Rush Limbaugh joins nation’s enemies in hoping President Obama will fail

By: Letters to the ...

One of the first lessons we are taught virtually from infancy is the beauty and virtue of honesty.

But, like all things in this complex world, honesty must be examined in the context in which it is stated.

First, consider the case of the bank robber who honestly states that unless the teller quietly hands over all the funds available, he/she will be shot

The teller attempts to sound an alarm, refuses to meet the robber’s demands and is summarily shot.

Not a pretty scenario, but, you must admit, the bank robber was extremely honest.

Now, let us fast forward to the year 2009 and the inauguration of Barack Obama as the first Afro-American President of the United States.

While it is understood that President Obama presently enjoys extremely high broad-based expressions of popularity and support, there is still a hardcore minority faction in this country that has a strong desire to see him fail.

There are many patriotic and objective Americans, of all political parties and persuasions, who will undoubtedly have disagreements, many of a serious nature, with the policies and programs of President Obama.

Fine, have them express their views and concerns in a civil, even heated at times, manner. This is the American way. The vast majority of dissenters will undoubtedly behave in this way.

But, for those who will not follow this pattern of open discussion and dissent and harbor a desire for Obama’s failure, they have a champion. It is none other than the undisputed king of talk radio, Rush Limbaugh.

Never in my weakest moments did I ever envision a scenario where I would admire any trait of Rush Limbaugh, especially in the area of honesty. But I openly admit that I was dead wrong.

Give Rush Limbaugh an abundant dose of credit and even adulation, which he so desperately needs, for proudly, openly, and honestly proclaiming, “I hope Obama fails!”

By having stated the foregoing, Mr. Limbaugh is inducted into that notorious and scurrilous “hall of shame.”

Mr. Limbaugh is certainly entitled to his views, as bizarre as they may be, but let us hope and pray that President Obama does not “fail.”

For if he does fail, the entire country fails, and the only sure winners are those radical terrorists who, still savoring the success of the attacks of 9/11, are planning on inflicting even more harm on this country and its citizens.

Now, who among us could have envisioned that, as a result of the November election, the hopes of Rush Limbaugh and our most radical terrorist die-hard opponents have merged in their mutually stated hope to see a failed President of the United States and all that entails?

I believe Mr. Williams needs a lesson in integrity. His letter is the epitomy of fabrication and lying by omission. There were clearly stated caveats to Limbaugh's "I hope Obama fails!" which Mr. Williams obviously left out to promote his personal agenda. The transcripts are readily available on-line but the crux of the caveats was, "if" Obama pushes a socialist agenda, Limbaugh wants him to fail. I want him to fail. Anyone who loves America and what she represents will want him to fail if that becomes the case.

If Obama's latest triumph, the deceptively named "stimulus" package, is any indication, socialism will indeed be a centerpiece of his administration. It is stuffed with hundreds of billions in welfare checks and many billions more in "gifts" to organizations and efforts that have nothing to do with the economy.

His campaign promise to raise taxes on most businesses as well as all individuals making over $200k annually and give large chunks of the resulting tax revenues to folks who don't pay taxes now will be counterproductive to the economy. I don't know who Obama's advisers are, but people don't create jobs, businesses do.

So far, after just ten days in office, I'd say Limbaugh's concerns are justified. Mr. Williams, on the other hand, should be ashamed of himself.

If I don't like my CEO and I hope that his policies fail my company miserably.... I think I'm just plain suicidal.

Now. If I don't like my CEO (because he is such a bad, bad person and horrible husband and father), but I want my company to do well and thrive, it would be hard to, at the same time, hope the policies which guide it; the policies which the majority of my co-workers voted for .... fail. I suggest it would be more logical to hope our CEO changed course or reconsidered. But it is purely inflammatory to say,
"I hope Richard Anderson FAILS!" Down right silly for someone working in his company.

I don't recall voting for Richard or that other guy........ Leo. For that matter, I didn't vote for that guy named Lorenzo some 28 years ago at the other airline either.

Anyways, how is the Mayor and his wife doing?

Instead of knee-jerking or in most cases finger stabbing..
The real story LINK Here

Read the entire story then you would see what Limbaugh said was he wants Liberalism to fail. At least get the facts before you stab the keys..
and besides I know all you libs.. where behind Bush in 2000 and 2004 right?

It says that he wants Obama to fail because of his Party affiliation.

"You know, I want to win. If my party doesn't, I do. If my party has sacrificed the whole concept of victory, sorry, I'm now the Republican in name only, and they are the sellouts."

Fact is I do not care what anyone else thinks of Rush.. I do not listen to him..but he is a private citizen in a public job and has every right to say what he damn well pleases.. It blows my mind that you libs can be so sanctimonious when just a few years ago I heard "SELECTED NOT ELECTED" until I was ready to puke.. It's his radio station that broadcast to the network and is picked up by over 500 stations nationwide.. If a majority of the stations listeners "hated" him then he would lose stations.. you know like Air America and NPR...
You guys have such short memories.. It was ok for EVERYONE on your side to call Bush stupid, Dumb and even call for his death.. but let one conservative talk show host say "I hope he fails" and you guys go ape crap... Get over your idolization of Obama.. He is going to be criticized for the next four years.. get used to it.. When he does something I agree with I will jump on the band wagon with you.. but just because he belongs to your party does not make him perfect and a great leader YET...

I couldn't agree more! Rush absolutely has the right to say it. I have no problem at all with that and have never said anything that could be construed differently. Like it or not, Rush is the mouthpiece of the Republican Party. When he says stuff like that its perfectly fair for my side to hold him up as an example. I think his statements helps my side. It makes it easier for me to portray the R's as radical, partisan and fringe; there's Rush, their spokesman, saying all this outrageous stuff. Seem to me that you're the one being hyper-sensitive about el Rushbo getting a little criticism.

As to what EVERYONE on my side says, you never read anything I wrote about "selected not elected" nor have I called Bush stupid or dumb and I certainly never called for his death. I may have characterized some of his positions as dumb but then some were.

There are 300 million people in the US. Anybody can find examples of people saying anything so bringing up isolated cases of over board statements by members of one party or the other doesn't mean much to me.

Politics is hardball. Like Truman said, If you want a friend get a dog.

Jeff yes politics is rough.. but to use your own examples.. then Baldwin, Pelosi, Reid and a whole host of others would represent all democrats and I know that is not true..
The posters here want to jail Rush.. that is what I find incredulous after 8 years of their diatribe..
I guess hypocrisy runs rampant here..Just look at Jerry Lynn's post and others here... should have known though..

This man, Limbough, has an audience of idiots just like himself and survives upon their listening to his baloney.

Occasionally when he really screws up and gets caught, he will then claim to be just an entertainer who jokes!
He couldn't make a living joking!

He and his ilk have completely destroyed the repoublican voters who used to vote with the base.
They cheered on Mr. No Weight and his cronies were allowing Wall Street to ruin us.
I do hope Limbough lost his butt in this crash!
I now buy nothing he advertises.

I'm also glad you think he has the right to say it.

When Drug Rush Limpball stated that he hoped that Obama's and his programs fail, I hope that he was just making up lies again. Bush and Cheney have left the United States in a de facto bankrupt mess. All the while, Rush and his lemmings have cheered them on as they run over the cliff. Rush would rather see the programs fail and destroy the country, and feed his ego, than resolve the problems. He still is a big fat idiot.
Rush Limpball hopes that Obama's proposals fail. Like the other reactionary neo-cons, he more concerned about validation of his irrational ego, than he is with the condition of the United States. He is a traitor.

Seems to me that "I hope he fails" is pretty clear. Now all the more moderate Republicans are back pedaling like crazy to try to candy coat the comments of Rush. If he had meant differently he could have chosen wiser words like "I hope his policies fail".

I have to question the integrity of Rush's followers in general, as his drug addiction is so well known. Maybe you're all on Oxycontin...

Like most social conservatives nowadays, Limbaugh truly hates the fact that they lost the last election and are desparate to maintain the facade of "business as usual". They are ever so slowly coming to the realization that America just doesn't care any longer what they believe in, and that has made them angry.

They are smart enough to realize that too much public hatred towards Obama is not in their best interests, so they are trying to establish just how much public hatred toward Obama they can muster without negatively impacting the Republican brand.

I found it very ironic that Wade Williams chose to first give us all a lesson in honesty before he launched on such an intellectually dishonest portrayal of Rush Limbaugh's comments about Barack Obama.

I happened to be listening to Rush's program when he said he "hopes he fails" but there was much more content to those comments than Mr. Williams cares to explain. In fact, you can listen to the audio of that program segment or read it by following the attached link, http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/home/daily/site_011609/content/01125113.guest.html. In short though, Limbaugh's position was that if Obama's plans end up with the government taking even greater control of our lives such as controlling the banking, automobile and health care industries then he does not want him to succeed. You can count me as agreeing whole-heartedly.

Mr. Williams goes on to graciously allow Americans to have contrasting view points and strong disagreements but he clearly doesn't allow Rush Limbaugh to disagree with the President or hope his liberal agenda fails. In fact, Williams says that if Obama fails then the entire country fails and the only sure winners are radical terrorists. Ignoring for a moment the fact that this is just a lame and shameless scare tactic, I would disagree and offer that if Obama succeeeds in his liberal-appeasing attempt to close Gitmo and treat terrorist battle field combatants like citizens then that is when the radical terrorists win.

I don't know whether Mr. Williams letter was intentionally dishonest or if he was just too lazy to research Limbaugh's actual comments but his assertion in the last paragraph of his letter that Limbaugh shared the same hopes as terrorists was just too pathetic not to rebuke. So, Mr. Williams, consider yourself rebuked.

Wade you obviously did not listen to what was actually said. Stop listening to what the liberal media tells you. Find out the truth and then come to your own conclusions. If you are watching CNN or listening to NPR as your source for news you will never get the truth....only Obama-media.

should be thrown in jail for treason for wanting our President AND our country to fail. I also listened to Limbaugh's entire diatribe and found it repulsive that he would want Obama to fail....If Obama fails, our country fails - don't you get it?

This is what we all have to look forward to, if Obama fails.... bank failures, increased crime, more home foreclosures and more layoffs. Do you really want to see MORE of this:

You have Bush and the neocons to thank for getting us into this mess in the first place, and it will take BOLD policies to get us out of it. Move aside, if you don't want to be part of the solution.

You should be glad that's not how our country works otherwise your friends in the Hollywood left, the MoveOn.org crazies and the rest of the lunatic left, including Nancy Pelosi, would have been imprisoned a long time ago for their obvious desires to have Bush fail. I suspect you might have been in there with them.

Luckily for you, Republicans, and Bush in particular, can stand criticism and opposition and don't need to throw people in prison for treason to crush it.

Unless Stalinist tactics are now Main Stream, you might want to change your i.d.

Seems I'm not the only one who was thinking that Limbaugh's comment was treasonous.

"You cannot be an American patriot, or a decent human being, if your wish is for our leader to fail. You cannot claim to care about this country if you hope the actions of our new leader don't succeed. If you are wishing for four more years of failed leadership following eight years of failed leadership, then you surely are no lover of this nation. What you are is a paid partisan hack, a voice determined to put ideology above country, a man intent on holding his overpaid position as a agent provocateur for right wing dimwits who offer them their ditto-head allegiance."

Jaime O'Neill LINK

Limbaugh, Hannity, Coulter, and the rest of the right-wingnuttery will continue to marginalize themselves, ending up appealing only to the crazy wingnut fringe groups. They are making it so easy for us. Keep it up, Limbotomy...you continue to implode on a daily basis! Laughing out loud

(btw Drake - I don't recall liberal pundits/bloggers HOPING and WISHING that Bush failed. I have always hoped that Bush would be successful in capturing Bin Laden, dismantling Al Qaeda, and securing our economic future with sound policies, however, he has been a failure at all of these and we are ALL suffering because of it, so why would I have hoped for Bush to fail? I would only be hurting myself and my family...duh. This is the difference between liberals and conservatives...hanging on to misguided ideology is more important to conservitards than hoping for the good of the country...yup, good luck with that mindset.)
