Airport Authority Changes Jan 21,2009

A peaceful 'coup d'ete' occurred last night at the Jan Airport Authority meeting as Mike Brady threw his hat into the ring at the last minute and was selected as chair for 2009. Longtime member, airshow host, and current chair Jerry Cobb did not receive a second for his nomination effectively making Mike the chair.

A large number of airport users were in attendance to welcome the two new airport authority members to the authority and encourage them to be mindful that Falcon Field airport is a major economic engine for Fayette County but is also a major recreational venue in our community. While acquiring new business aircraft to be based at Falcon Field is desirable, for hundreds of local pilots, Falcon Field is the primary recreational location for them. A mix and balance of business and recreational flying is needed to maintain the excellent flavor of Falcon Field Operations.

Many of the pilots attending thanked Jerry Cobb for his many years of service to our community through the annual airshow, the airport authority, and the Commemorative Air Force.
