PTC church shot

Several gunshots were fired into a Peachtree City church in the city's industrial park between 11:30 a.m. yesterday and 7:30 this morning, police said.

The gunshots were discovered this morning in the front door at Bethlehem Baptist Church, said Capt. Rosanna Dove of the Peachtree City Police Department.

There were no threats reported against the church and the initial indications were that nothing was taken from the facility, Dove said.

The church is located on Dividend Drive between Kelly Drive and Crosstown Drive.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call the city's crime and narcotics information hotline at 770-487-6010.

Black Church under attack in PTC!

A church attended by mostly blacks gets shot at during the night before President Obama (a black himself) and this is all the local newspaper can write? This is obviously a hate crime against a peaceful congregation of blacks!

We have no way of knowing why this church was shot up. It could have been someone taking potshots just to take them. Everything is not racially motivated. We don't need people stirring up other people at this time. Let's wait and see what the authorities find out.

Black Church....NOT!!

The only historic black church in PTC is at the corner of Robinson and Holly Grove.

Nice try with the whole race card thing. Get over the race card. There are no barriers in this country. We have a mixed race president.

Now lets focus on the real crime. Was it just our usual destructive teens in PTC, or a rabid group who hates christians??

If the membership's racial make-up consists of both blacks and whites, then the church automatically defaults to being African American.

I do understand.

In the city of ATL pulling the race card is an olympic sport.

Even the pastor of the church said he did not think it was a "hate based" crime. Go to channel 2 and watch his interview for yourself.

This careless vandalizing jerk makes all gun owners look bad.

Git I know what you mean, if white people are also the targets of crime nobody seems to really care do they? No race card.... But, if it had been a black only church.....God forbid....but whites mixed in...yeah that's ok...

After all it was just a Christian church....if it had been a muslim church.... loooooook out. But christians....whatever....

I do not know the schedule of the church. Were the shots fired when people occupied the building (even 1 maintenance type person)?

If there was anybody in the building? Many churches are occupied the entire Sunday by someone. If it is a loud music playing church, you may not notice pot shots being taken at the building.

I was a plant engineer at a facility that had to remove a dozen bullets from our EPDM roof each year. It was a 24-7 facility and nobody ever reported shots fired. Of course that was a plunging fire from a good distance I am sure.
