Some of you may or may not be informed to the recent proposals to cut certain departments from your recreation and public works departments. Your city managers are trying to do away with three departments which effect 23 employees. These jobs will be outsourced to strangers whose backgrounds you know nothing about. I am one of the 23 and feel very strongly that all citizens need to be more informed about this issue. This city government, including city council, has failed to timely address issues that could have been instrumental in preventing some of these budget problems. The city managerial staff is trying to place a tiny band-aid on a very large wound. The workers that are being let go are employees that work for you citizens of Peachtree City. The budget problems we are facing were not created by this 23 or any other lower echelon employee. The upper echelon managers make the big bucks but they expect the lower echelon to make all the concessions. They expect the 23 to pay for managements failures. I feel this reduction in the staff is going to cause a serious reduction in the services this city expects. The citizens in this town have a situation here that could be compared to a vehicle going down hill without any brakes. (1) On the inside of this vehicle are the citizen’s property values. (2) On the outside of this vehicle is one little guy trying to put a rock under the wheel to slow this thing down. The little guy represents the 23 and this will not stop the vehicle. Believe me! Even if these 23 get cut from this system the citizen’s problem will still remain….. Much of your services here are being cut and you will significantly lose the quality of maintenance within your town. As a worker here I very much would appreciate your support or input. Show your support by attending your City council meeting in February.
