I'm probably as guilty as the next person but...

It seems these blogs are getting too mean spirited. Reading the blogs often makes your blood pressure boil and then many of us jump in here growling and foaming at the mouth. Then we get mad when someone shoots back a zinger that feels like it hit below the belt.

When I see it (or do it myself) I read it later and think "I'm not going to read the blogs anymore, they tick me off too much. It's not good for me."

I decided today that I will read them and maybe respond, but only if I can do it in an intelligent respectful manner and only when I can offer an opinion or fact that adds healthy input to the conversation.

Get Real is kinda that way although he will send a shot across someone's bow when he thinks they should be put in their place. I'm not sure I'm confident enough to do that yet without reading it later and regretting it.

Only a little over half of us get the President we want, only a little more than half of us get the local Sheriff or other politicians we want. Even though more than half get their way at any one given time, a large percentage of us don't and stomp around spitting mad.

I think I'll be healthier if I turn down the mean, even when I don't agree with what I hear or read. If I want to vent I'll do it while I'm alone. I don't seem to get as mad at myself as others do.

This is a very harsh site. It's the most vicious that I post on.

Well-said, IMNSIO! I've been wondering if I should even post at all here, since I don't do politics or religion. Both are no-win debates and no one is going to change their minds over some words on a page.

My posts are little vignettes of my childhood in an earlier, gentler time - and an attempt to "lighten up" the board a bit. I don't even know if anyone is reading them, but it makes me feel good! LOL

without anger. Your's is the attitude I hope more of us will adopt on this website. Even if we all don't it will lift the spirits of some of us, for the few that do.

Thanks, IMNSIO. Posting these snippets help me get over my paranoia about letting people read what I write. How's that for a problem for someone who is trying to be a writer? LOL - and I have a published book, for cryin' out loud! THAT was scary...

Funny you should have posted this today. I just discontinued participation in a forum back in my old home town because it had sunk to around 90% sniping posts. All in all this forum is less vicious, which may give you an idea of the one I left. I have learned to ignore certain posters who generally bash any who happen to disagree with their notions.
