Black Congressman Accuses Senate of Racism

"I believe sincerely that if Roland Burris had not been an African-American, then he would be appointed. They think that they are above the law, and although they might not be termed racist, their action is racist."

I love it. Some people will scream racism at any chance. One reason that the senate will not seat Mr Burris is that the Ill Secretary of State Jesse White will not sign off on his appointment. Mr White by the way is a black man. Racism ?

One thing that could have been better is at the end. You could have simply said "Mr. White is not, nor is he a racist"

Maybe even that is racist comment. It is hard to tell nowdays.

Mr Morgan,

I thought about some play on words concerning Mr White. But I don't think I could have topped yours.*LOL*

of what we all think, unless and until the IL gov is indicted, he still has the ability to appoint the next senator. Now, the state AG can say she didn't like it, the US Senate can say they don't like it, but no one can stop it for it was within his ability to appoint this temporary guy. That said, if it were me, I can't say I would accept the appointment just due to all the controversy surrounding it. Do I think it's racism? Nope. But he'll get a few miles out of this, to be sure.

Fred, you need to read more than 'right' wing media. This 'issue' may be resolved by the time you read this - according to Constitutional law.

Don't tell me what I "need" to do. You ain't my momma.
All I did was post the statement. Nothing else. If you don't like it, then don't read it.

It's the democrat party that is full of racists bent on controlling everyone in the country. Look at the racist democrat leader of the house - Harry "the weasel" Reid. He only wants white people as Senators - Doesn't that make you mad?

No barry thinks that only government can save the country. Heck - it was government that put the country into the situation it is now.
Where's the hope? Where's the change that he promised?

Harry Reid is a great American and a true patriot. He's not a racist, just wants a legitimate senator from Illinois.

Barach Obama is the next Messiah and will save the country, so get over it!

I suffered 8 long years under the repressive "W" Republican regime, and 8 before that under Regan, so it's time for you Republicans to suffer and do it my way. By the time we finish we will have a true social democracy which is America's true and great destiny.

Please tell me what Socialist Country that is working well today..
and no we will not do it "your way" you forget in this Country the people have the right to stand up and tell our Goverment "NO we will not take it any more" and by right of arms re-take our way of life.. So Xipho before you get all giggly and druel over the prospect of receiving more welfare from the Goverment (taxpayers)remember this the well of money that the achievers in this Country dumps our money into will not stay full forever.. we will stop paying for your handouts..

Please tell us how you personnally suffered.. I would really like to know.. The Economy has been good up until the last year.. just in time for the election by the way..hmmm.. Here in the Atlanta area we have done better then most.. So please illuminate us all on your suffering.. or was it just mental...hmmmm
Understandable since the "Hate Bush Syndrom" is a derangement all Democrates seem to "suffer" from... Get over 2000 and 2004... You won in 08.. be happy.. you succeeded in demonizing a sitting President to the World. You have now elected a Socialist and the old adage "Be careful what you wish for.. You just might get it".. I think we will all see change.. just in what form it will take is my concern.. Bigger Goverment=Less Freedom.. and no I am not a Repub.. I have my issues with President Bush also.. but like Clinton I do not hate him.

Grow up! The 'black' Congressman from Illinois stated that he did not feel that Reid was racist. You are entitled to your opinion - but it's usually not based on balanced information. I'm encouraged that most Americans are looking beyond ideology in working together to get us out of this mess. There are no easy answers to our predicament - and most people feel that Obama is in the process of choosing a team that will have the expertise to lead us out of what has become a global problem. Fortunately those who paint everything ‘black’ and/or ‘white’ do not represent these leaders from diverse political and ideological perspectives.

Rep. Rush has likened the Roland Burris situation to a "lynching" and has insinuated the the Senate is racist for not seating him (before they caved). Ladies and gentlemen, Rep. Rssh is a professional race hustler. This guy is an ex-Black Panther and never fails to racially agitate given the chance. He is a fraud and has done nothing to help race relations in this country.

Fred ask where's the hope? Where's the change? You've gotta admit that here just 11 days before Obama takes office that he has not implemented his message of hope and change. Just imagine Fred's disappointment after Obama is actually in office.

Fred is right when he said it was government that put the country into the situation it is now. His party's mantra is that government is incompetent and when they get in office they do their very best to prove it. And what a resounding success they have been at that.

As for being members of the racist party, do you think that maybe Fred hasn't noticed that our guy is an African-American. Hope he watches the inauguration. Boy, is he gonna be surprised!

What if all the world were to awake tommorow, and find itself color blind, what then, can you imagine. The government would have to find another way to keep us all at odds with each other, so that we would not unite as one people under god, individual , with liberty and justice for all. Sound familiar....Anyone.... And then we could begin to fight the evil at hand, that prospers form the success of its misdirection, and takes joy at the strife suffered by others..Wake up people get real, when we are all out in the street hungry and cold then we may see each other as one, then things will have no choice but to change. PEACE....
