Two Florida men caught with load of stolen goods

It looked to be a case of attempted shoplifting. But it came with a twist. Two Florida men are in custody after exiting Best Buy at Fayette Pavilion Tuesday and being stopped by sheriff’s deputies on Ga. Highway 314 in a mini-van loaded with stolen merchandise.

Charged with shoplifting and theft by receiving stolen property were Hollywood, Fla. residents Julio Real, 26, and Steven Dacurro, 46, according to Fayetteville Police spokesperson Steve Crawshaw. Dacurro was also charged with giving a false name, Crawshaw said.

Crawshaw said a Best Buy employee flagged down a passing Fayetteville officer Tuesday afternoon, explaining that two men had been concealing merchandise while in the store. The men left the store without the merchandise, followed by the employee who got their tag number, Crawshaw said.

Deputies located the vehicle traveling on Hwy. 314. A check of the vehicle revealed numerous items such as video games, monitors, software, tennis shoes and other items, Crawshaw said.

Crawshaw confirmed that the van appeared to have been rented in Hollywood, Fla. at approximately 9 a.m. on Jan. 5.

The investigation is ongoing, said Crawshaw. Detectives are currently determining the origin and value of the stolen merchandise and why Real and Dacurro were in Fayetteville.

Thanks to the Best Buy employee in Fayetteville for alerting police to potential shoplifters. This is the kind of vigilance we all need to have to get the criminals out of the county. AND...take action. He/she deserves a bonus.

I heard several people say that they observed shoplifting during Christmas, but didn't say anything because they didn't want to "get involved." We all need to "get involved."

What great advertising for Best Buy.

They were in Fayetteville, because they know that some local stores will not prosecute them if they are caught red handed,,can you say Toys-R-Us..Among others.....Anyone.....We need t boycott these stores whenever possible for they only care about taking your money, and not giving anything back to the community, including respect....GOD BLESS. Good looking out Best Buy...Keep it up..
