Jimmy Carter's Handy-work

Charity homes built by Hollywood start to crumble

"RESIDENTS of a model housing estate bankrolled by Hollywood celebrities and hand-built by Jimmy Carter, the former US president, are complaining that it is falling apart.

Fairway Oaks was built on northern Florida wasteland by 10,000 volunteers, including Carter, in a record 17-day “blitz” organised by the charity Habitat for Humanity.

Eight years later it is better known for cockroaches, mildew and mysterious skin rashes."

Habitat for Humanity has built over 300,000 houses. Fred's article somehow didn' mention that of the complaints, 30 have been resolved and Habitat is working on the others. The houses come with a twenty year warranty. Attacking Habitat just so you can post something bad about Carter is pitiful. Have you ever done anything for anybody? Habitat has.

It's very interesting to see an article on this blog about mold due to poor construction techniques where the Leslie Construction company (builders of the infamous "Mold Palace", a.k.a. PTC Police Station) is NOT mentioned!
