I need some help with my PC.

I need some help from a truly savy computer techie.
Here's the skinny: almost every time I place a blank CD or DVD in my burner it causes My PC to shut-down. It then reboots itself and will shut down again, maybe 2 or 3 times, until I remove the disk. I have deleted the drivers and have also replaced the burner to no avail.
Any input would be appreciated before I wipe the HD and reinstall the OS.
My contact link is open if you'd like to e-mail me.
Thanks

Thanks for the input guys. Turns-out I had two burner programs which were in conflict. After deleting the one, all is ok now. I appreciate the input.
By the way, the error report to Microsoft suggested I had two or more antivirus programs causing the concern. This was not correct.

I am suspicious of the IDE Master/Slave settings. If you are familiar with the IDE cable wiring I suggest you check to see if the hard drive and DVD burner are on the same cable and if they are check to make sure one is assigned as the master and the other a slave.

If that is not it I would check for an IRQ conflict.

Happy hunting.

To eliminate the reboots, you may need to disable Automatic Restarts on System Failures. Go to Control Panel » System » Advanced » Startup and Recovery. In the System Failure section, unselect Automatically Restart, then click OK. This should stop the restarts, but may produce a BSOD the next time this event occurs. At least the BSOD will have a specific error code and/or file name that may indicate what the problem is.

A couple other things to check: Shut down the PC, then check the IDE or SATA cables for each drive. Make sure they are seated correctly. It may be possible that your PSU is starting to go bad. How old is the PC? Have you made any hardware changes recently? Do you get this reboot issue with audio and data CDs or just blanks?

Post any updates when you can...

The problem only occurs with a blank disk, thanks for the help.
