Tyrone’s Neighborhood Alliance 2008In 2007 at almost every council meeting Tyrone Neighborhood Alliance spokesman Don Rehwaldt appeared with a list of issues that the Tyrone Neighborhood Alliance and its supporters would like to see be brought to closure. He would state “It is our desire that a solution or direction be given to Town management or any other responsible entity within the Council’s purview to effect closure. In most cases, the solutions are apparent! Required is the leadership of the Mayor and Council with instructions to Town management to carry out Council’s direction in a timely manner.” He would end with “It is the intent of the Tyrone Neighborhood Alliance and its supporters to readdress each of the following issues at every Council meeting until the issues are resolved.” The issues he repeatedly brought before the council were: Emergency entrance into Shamrock Industrial Park (their primary concern); Lack of a Code Enforcement Officer; Air pollution in Shamrock Industrial Park; exceeding long delay in publishing minutes from the previous Council and Planning Commission Meetings; odors from Millbrook Village’s community sewer system; and Signs at Triangle Park and Dollar General to name a few. He even offered solutions for some of these; tie Millbrook Village into the Town’s sewer system, variances for the signs. Now one year later he is Mayor and has Grace Caldwell’s handpicked Town Management in place but what has he done to solve these grave issues- in a word- NOTHING. (Note: the old council did hire a code enforcement officer but Grace Caldwell had him fired). Were these “real issues” or was he just doing what he was told to do to get elected? Apparently, they were campaign fodder that served his purpose of getting elected. When you see him in public (a rarity these days) ask him about these issues, call him at home, email him…..THE CITIZENS HAVE A RIGHT TO KNOW. truthandjustice's blog | login to post comments |
