Eternal vigilanceI was coming home both literally and figuratively from a trip "over the river and through the woods from grandmother's house" late on Christmas night. There was hardly a soul on the road. It was oddly comforting as I neared the Peachtree City limits to hear my radar detector shriek in alarm. Out there in the dark, oblivious to the holiday and the cold, a single solitary Tyrone police officer used his trusty radar gun to test my driving speed for the potential revenue benefit of his masters on the town council. Thankfully (for me anyway) I was judged unworthy of further attention. The price of balanced city budgets in Tyrone is eternal vigilance. sniffles5's blog | login to post comments |
