Peachtree City officials are planning to close the little-used Clover Reach pool for good this year.

But another victim of the Peachtree City budget crunch may be one of the city’s three remaining public pools.

The Pebblepocket pool may also be on the chopping block, as city councilmembers have directed recreation staff to close it as well.

Both pools are at least 30 years old and are among the first public pools in Fayette County.

In 2007, Pebblepocket had nearly 2,100 visitors compared to 2,558 at Glenloch.

In 2007 it cost $35,188 to operate Pebblepocket and $30,788 to operate Glenloch.

Recreation officials are still studying how to redevelop the Clover Reach pool into perhaps another recreation amenity.

Why are the people not demanding a full recall of the city council. Oh yeah it would take more than the ten or fifteen people who show up at the council meetings, how many spoke on the raise issue oh yeah four people, i guess the rest were too busy. Not even enough to form up a skirmish line. Fall back Fall back....

How nice to hear in a time of budget and economical depression our City Council is taking away form the citizens but recently gave to themselves....a pay raise. How thoughtful.

Maybe they will rescind the pay raise due to the current financial situation...NOT!
