The passing of the badge

Sheriff-elect Wayne Hannah addresses a crowd at the Fayette County Justice Center following his swearing-in ceremony Dec. 18. Long-serving sheriff Randall Johnson (at right) was on hand to pass the torch as he nears completing his 32nd year as sheriff. Both encouraged the public to continue assisting the sheriff’s office as law enforcement becomes difficult without citizens’ aid, Johnson said. Photo/John Munford.

This is your wake call fayette county. Having grown up in college park in the 70,s I was able to witness first hand what is now happening here in our community. When people fail to get involved in theyre communities, and lookout for one an other, you can forget it. When people only become concerned about themselves and figure its not my problem theyre wrong. What affects your neighbors will ultimately come back to affect you. A crime against one is a crime against all. Pay attention to what is going on around you open your eyes and you may be suprised what is going on next door, down the street, starbucks, wal-mart you get the idea. Even law enforcement admits that it can not protect you without your participation. If you see activity out there no matter how petty. I:E, people coming and going from a house in your neighborhood at allhours of day and night, unfamilliar car or person riding up and down your street, if it does not look right then it probably is not call it in. right or wrong call it in. turned out to be nothing? good, but you still called it in right...GOD BLESS...GOD SPEED...GOOD LUCK SHERIFF HANNAH

We all need to get involved, if we care about our county.

We need an ordinance that is similar to the city of Kennesaw. They require their citizens to have a gun to protect their lives.

Everytime a criminal steps into this county they should leave in a body bag with full media coverage! How many people have a carry permit in this county? I think the news media and our Sheriff need to remind criminals of that # or % daily.
