Rick Warren is a bigot and a hate-filled person

mudcat's picture

At least that is what the baby-killers and sodomites said today after PEBO invited him to participate in his inaguration.

How is it that we have to put up with the abortion is ok crowd and the in-your-face gay agitators every day and then when Obama tries to have a religous person participate in the religous part of the inaguration we hear all this hate-filled vitriol?

Why can't the low lifes in the Democrat Party just lay low for a while? Maybe they feel emboldened since PEBO was elected. Fine, he was elected - they were not.

I have often wondered why Mudcat was so enamored of preacher Rick Warren.

I think I have found the answer:
Rick Warren Cites Hitler Youth as Model For Christian Dedication

p.s. note to meanoldconservative and S. Lindsey: there's actual video of Warren saying that in my link, you may want to take that into consideration before trying to tell us what Warren really meant to say. On the other hand, when did trivialities such as "video evidence" ever matter to the likes of you two? Sticking out tongue

Where did I ever comment here about Rick Warren? And please reference my quotes about the Hitler youth? Since you won't find those, if there was something related I need to explain for you just let me know.

Well, I am no fan of Warren. In fact, I think he's a dope. Have you seen his interaction with atheist philosopher Dan Dennett? As a Christian I am embarrassed.

And his choice of examples shows a genuine lack of discretion. For one thing, even on the sympathetic interpretation that I'll offer a paragraph or two below, the model is a bad one simply because the Nazi Youth movement involved mindless fanaticism. Don't we wish to say that a healthy dose of practical reason would have dissuaded these young people from such involvement? Also, the Hitler Youth movement was coercive, and a good case can be made for widespread brainwashing. "Hitler, we are yours," is the stuff of a Hitler cult. Is this a good model for Christian commitment, which, if it is valid at all, should engage the mind as well as the passions?

If commitment--Nazi or Christian--involves a bypassing of the intellect, then I'd rather be a Swing Kid.

And his use of the example shows a lack of wisdom as he should have anticipated that people such as yourself, who are generally unsympathetic, would be able to have a field day with it.

But it is abundantly clear that nothing that he says here expresses admiration for Hitler or the Nazis. He is speaking of a "spiritual awakening," and there is no reason to think that this means anything other than a commitment to the teachings of Jesus--which are as far from Hitler as the east is from the west.

Distinguish FORM from CONTENT. By content, I mean the actual beliefs and agenda of the movement. By form, I mean their overall methods of organization and mobilization. Of course, if what I say above is correct, the form itself was objectionable and this was a stupid example to use. But, still, his intention was simply to latch on to an example of people on fire for a cause en masse.

It was on the order of someone from, say, a Southern Baptist church expressing admiration for the commitment of the Jehovah's Witnesses. Though they don't agree with the actual beliefs, they see value in the devotion to what is believed, which has them out ringing doorbells.

People who need a face to talk to them and assure them that they are correct use those like this dude (Warren) as a crutch to assure their salvation! They shouldn't need such assurance!
How many of these jokers have hit the skids with their "worse than average" conduct before they plunge into laughability? Haggard, Roberts, Hinn, Swaggart, Bakker, and on and on!

I don't know why they want all of us to be like them! How would that help them? Confidence, maybe?

They even want to indoctrinate children with unproven garbage!

Do your thing if you want, but you have no business in my business.
I know there was a Creator and I know that he doesn't want me to think like every nut who comes along on all of those details!

I don't need Warren to tell me what he thinks!

We have a couple here in PTC also who think they know it all.

Rick Warren states, "I believe W.A. Criswell was the greatest American pastor of the 20th Century." The late W.A. Criswell often preached to his congregation about the evils of racial integration.

Who was W.A. Criswell?

Criswell believed that true ministers must passionately resist government mandated desegregation because it is “a denial of all that we believe in.”*

"In 1956, Criswell railed against the Supreme Court's landmark Brown v. Board of Education ruling. Integration, Criswell argued, was "foolishness" and "idiocy."

Criswell saved some of his harshest words for the NAAACP. In one crude remark, he made a clumsy attempt at humor that wouldn't have been out of place at a KKK rally:

"Why the NAACP has got those East Texans on the run so much," he said, "that they dare not pronounce the word 'chigger' any longer. It has to be 'cheegro.'(sic)"

It's a shame that Warren idolized this guy and holds him in such high esteem: ADMIRING CRISWELL

Warren has made quite a name for himself with his 'Celebrity Driven Life' book and it's too bad that Obama has chosen such a divisive character to be an important part of his Presidential inauguration. Warren's distorted admiration for a bigoted Southern Baptist preacher is disgusting.

Are you referring to our next President of the United States as a "PEABO?" How about "step-n-fetchit?"

Even before he has any authority or not having made one decision, he is "Peabo!"

Fat a__ __, Ricky Warren (well not quite as much as Hagggeee) is a glutton who thinks he has it all figured out for everyone in the whole world. (Purpose-filled Life, Yuk!!) (300,000,000 dollars worth is what it is!)

How is that for being nastier than you?

Jessee would have been better, I think, or even Reverend Sharpton.
Or motorcyclist, doper---Frank Graham, maybe!
How about one of the Oral Roberts bunch? Or maybe Bishop Ed Long?
A feller named Dollar is rich enough to do it!
Rev. Ken or that Lebanese feller on TV might fit in.

They could all be "faith-healed" right there on the platform!

No, I just thought--Rev. Governor Palin would really have brought the house down!

Hey. I have seen this acronym on other sites in a normal context-President Elect Barack Obama. Why did you add the "A"? Perhaps a freudian slip. You seem to be a big "A".

Why all the hostility to Warren? Has he affected you life? I find it interesting that Christians will receive your scorn, but your silence will follow adherents to other faiths, notably Islam.

It is like the GLADD in CA. They avoid rioting in the areas that voted heavily against them--hispanic and black communities. They only go after the churches. How craven.

"Why can't the low lifes in the Democrat Party just lay low for a while?"

Mudcat, obviously the "low lifes" in the Republican party aren't "laying low." So why would the "low lifes" in the "democrat (sic)" party be any less vocal than their adversaries in the battle of ugly rhetoric?

Did you ever stop and think, just for a moment, that every time you call proponents of abortion rights "baby killers," you are calling women who chose not to carry their rapist's seed to term "baby killers?" You are calling girls who choose not to have their father's or step father's babies "baby killers?" Do you honestly think you are changing anyone's mind with your ugliness, Mudcat........

Women who have been raped and become pregnant and chose to abort their baby - which is perfectly legal, acceptable and morally correct are called "Victims"

Radical liberals who think a woman has a right to choose whether or not to keep a baby after discretionary or recreational sex either in or outside of marraige are immoral, misguided and merchants of sin - although perfectly legal. Women who choose this option are in fact "Baby killers" and have sinned, but that should be settled by their God (if applicable) and not by the federal government.

I've provided you a link to congratulate women who aren't baby killers in your typical *conservative fashion

Just to follow your logic, are you saying a baby isn't killed during an abortion if the mom is, by your definition, a victim? But a baby IS killed in abortion if the mother does not fit your definition of victimization? Airtight logic, Mudcat. Unfortunately the air is trapped outside of that argument.

Well this old farmer can sure understand you might not want to worry your pretty little head with numbers so I'd reckon that you are for those cases above but would be against the remaining 98% of human killing that's being done just because the children are inconvenient.

I'm going to need a few more beers to understand what you are trying to say here, but I'd suggest you get the pen and pad out and begin collecting petitions and inundating congressmen and women with letters if you want Roe vs Wade reversed. This blog probably won't git er dun.

If your paths converge, give my best to the pilot and his team after he put that falling aluminum can full of passengers safely into the drink. No doubt there was a little luck blended in with his skill sets in that remarkable landing but in no way does that take away from remarkable miracle. Who would have ever thought 2 broken legs would be good news?

After first hearing that all of those folks made it off the plane alive I had to wipe a drop of man sweat of my eye due to the heat of the moment. After that I wore a great big ole smile the rest of the day thinking about all those folks getting out of that plane in remarkably good shape.

Hey Hutch....you still got the big head (rightfully so) about that clarinet player that stays with you? Eye-wink
