Alan_>
Thank you

Kristine.36728>

Alan_>
??

Kristine.36728>

Alan_>
Yes. Wondering what will happen when we go all digital will the other sets lose all their channels//??

Kristine.36728>
The chances are, if that is the only channel that is missing, the problem might be with the History channel network.

Alan_>
Since the 12th of November??? Please get me to a Supervisor??

Kristine.36728>
What I can do is send a signal on your cable box and see if your History channel works again.

Alan_>
Kristine 1. The History channel works on my Cable Box set.

Alan_>
2. It does not work on sets without a cable box

Alan_>
3. You don't want to answer the question

Alan_>
What happens to my other connected televisions when you switch to Digital??

Alan_>
May I speak with your Supervisor??? Please.

Kristine.36728>
One moment, Alan.

Alan_>
Thank you

Kristine.36728>
I do apologiza for the long wait. As I have checked the channel line up of your cable box, it does not include the History channel. History channel is included in the Digital Stater Package.

Alan_>
Then please arrange for a technician to come to the house and remove it from my cable box set in the living room.

Alan_>
I do not want to be receiving something that I am not paying for.

Alan_>
??

Alan_>
Two minutes and 30 seconds??

Kristine.36728>
Is the History channel working on your cable box, Alan?

Alan_>
1. Yes. It works very well on the cable box. Thank you

Kristine.36728>
It should be working since you are subscribed to Digital Starter.

Alan_>
Then why doesn't it work on the other non-cable boxed sets??

Kristine.36728>
May I please know if you are able to receive channel 79 on the non-cable box set?

Alan_>
Stand by

Alan_>
Negative - No Channel 79

Kristine.36728>
That is also under the Digital Stater Channel Lineup. Same with the History Channel.

Alan_>
79 is Oxygen on the cable set

Kristine.36728>
You will only receive the Digital Starter Channel Lineups on the sets with the Digital Starter cable box.

Alan_>
Yes - Now we are getting somewhere - What happens when you switch to all Digital in February??

Kristine.36728>
You need to have an extra cable box installed for the other sets.

Kristine.36728>
You not need to worry about the transition just as long as you are connected to a cable provider.

Alan_>
Thank you.. But what you wrote is that I won't have cable unless I have a Cable Box. Is that True

Alan_>
Or I should re-word - I won't have all the Digital Starter Channels without a Cable Box

Kristine.36728>
That is correct.

Kristine.36728>
You are most welcome, by the way.

Alan_>

to make room for more HD channels. Analog channels are bandwidth HOGS.

Many cities around the Country have already gone all digital with their systems, it will happen here sooner or later.

Your digital box is simply "remapping" history to it's original ch 52. It's not on the analog feed anymore.

One more thing, anyone with a newer HDTV with a QAM tuner can get the local ch's in HD for FREE....ABC/CBS/NBC etc..about 100% of the population does not know this. They are required to pass them to the consumer, unscrambled...you may originally find the ch numbers weird, but believe, the HD quality is there.

Just let the digital tuner do a ch search, you'll be surprised at what you may find.

One more thing, the upcoming switch to digital in Feb has NOTHING to do with any cable system in the nation. It's also not a switch to all HD, simply digital.

Comcast is such a joke of a company. The customer service is terrible. I do need the cable internet, though. Has anyone used dish network and still had cable internet? I'm really thinking of switching, but am scared that the dish people will be the same way.

I agree, what a joke they are. I have been trying to get a problem taken care of for weeks. It's always "we are going to take care of it" or they give you a stupid answer that makes no sense. Somebody on here called them Comcrap, how fitting.

After numerous similar issues with Comcast, we are switching to DirecTV this week. We will get the same channel lineup for $71.00 LESS per month, AND they don't charge for the additional boxes. I tried to give Comcast the opportunity to beat the DTV deal, but they said they couldn't. They said they HAVE to charge for the boxes because they lease them from Motorola, whereas DTV OWNS their boxes and can give them away if they want to. I appreciate the truth, but what kind of sense does it make to tell a customer that? I WANT to use the service that OWNS and SERVICES it's own boxes, thank you very much. These are the same people that couldn't switch our home phone to their service because we had already switched our business line to their service. IN THE SAME BUILDING, AT THE SAME ADDRESS! I kid you not. And they told me that TWICE - I originally called the residential sales people that said they couldn't do it, SO, believing I had just gotten a "challenged" CS Rep, I called the business sales people and got the same answer.

Double check your info. DirecTV does charge monthly mirroring (lease) fee's for additional receivers. DirecTV may not be charging you upfront costs but trust me, you will be paying $5.00 a month for each additional box activated.
Just as others have pointed out, that $71 a month savings is for limited time. I am guessing 12 month at which point you will find your price increased to at least $52.99 (depending on the package you have selected)

$77 is enough to have any TV service, much less a discount!

I think you better check again!

Also, what will your bill be in a few months?

What a bunch of c_ _ _. In LaGrange, through Charter Cable, the History Channel is not a premium channel.

We got our "official notice" last month that unless we switched packages, the History Channel and TV guide channels were going to disappear.

I didn't particularly care (although I will miss "Modern Marvels") but the snifflespawn were devastated when they came home from college for Thanksgiving break "Where's the TV Guide channel?" "gone" "How the heck are we supposed to find out what is on?"

Sniffles5,
If you could?? Please try and find the notice and post it here. I am baffled by Comcast's inability to inform their consumers? Thanks az

I threw the flyer out in the trash last month.

What was odd was that it came in one of those mailers I get on a monthly basis, extolling the virtue of changing all my internet/phone/cable services to Comcast...I normally throw those things out unopened.

Submitted by fluffybear on Wed, 12/03/2008 - 10:24am.

Speaking of those mailers! For the last few months, I have been getting at least 2 to 3 ad's a week for "Charter Communications" in my mailbox. I spoke with a few neighbors and it appears I am not the only one getting these mailers so my question is, "Has anyone heard anything about Charter possibly coming to Peachtree City?"
