For the third time in a little over a year, Zaxby’s restaurant in Fayetteville was hit around closing time Monday night by armed robbers. The restaurant was the scene of two other armed robberies since August 2007.

Fayetteville Police spokesman Steve Crawshaw said the incident occurred shortly after the restaurant closed at 10 p.m., adding that no one was injured in the incident.

Crawshaw said employees described three black males wearing hoods and masks entering the store near closing time. One of the men produced a handgun, possibly a black semi-automatic, said Crawshaw. Employees were held at gunpoint while the robbers took an undisclosed amount of cash from the store manager, Crawshaw said.

The restaurant was also robbed on Sept. 20 just after closing. Two men wearing masks, hoodies and gloves and armed with handguns entered the store as an employee was taking trash out of the back door. The men left after being unable to get into the restaurant office.

The same Zaxby’s location was also robbed in August 2007. In that incident, a male and female wearing masks entered the store after closing as an employee was taking out the trash. Employees were locked inside the cooler.

This is something that businesses need to be concerned of too in North Fayette. The Getaway factor. The corner the Zaxby's is on offers a choice of roads to get away on that lead back to Clayton County.
Once the criminals cross the Clayton County line they know that they are home free.
I am scared that homes in that area will start to see home invasions for that very same reason.

Well, I'm so glad to know that you all are so aware of the situation. I work for a restaurant in the area. I have also been to this establishment and can say they have higher security standards than most other places in the area. They also have higher hiring standards. If people want to find a way, they will. Also, I do believe that the robbers from the past two robberies were apprehended due to their camera system. So before you start blaming the restaurant, maybe think about blaming the people responsible.

There is one on Hwy 85 North near J&R Clothing and one on Hwy 85S at the Publix. One may be in the county and not the city and that is why it wasn't specified, but I don't know which one.

Do these thugs realize that by targeting a fried chicken establishment they drive up the dine out costs of their fellow citizenry? Where is the outrage? Can you stop it? "Yes you can"

Maybe the manager should revise their closing procedures.
1. Keep the backdoor locked after dark.
2. Use a timed safe to make your money drops.
3. Install security lights and cameras around your building.
4. Stop hiring thugs because I'm willing to bet that at least one of these "robberies" was an inside job.

Apparently you have never been in a small business as the owner!

Rules of procedure such as lock the doors, turn off the lights, turn on the lights, don't answer the knock after closing, lock the buried in concrete safe, look around outside before leaving--call the cops for a visit if suspicious, etc. simply aren't all done by employees in any regular fashion!

They are so eager to get there late and leave early that all is forgotten often. It is not theirs!

Turnover due to attitude is awful.

Who else are you going to hire up there?
