A Newnan man was arrested early Saturday evening after he was running after cars at the intersection of Ga. Highway 54 and Stevens Entry and threatening to kill people, police said. Kenneth Eugene Rhea II, 19, of Daniel Road threatened to kill the first police officer that arrived on the scene, police said. First sitting on the curb, Rhea moved towards the patrol car and was yelling, police said. Rhea refused the officers orders to get on the ground and after being sprayed with pepper spray he continued to fight even after four other officers arrived, police said. Rhea was eventually handcuffed and treated for exposure to the pepper spray, which also affected the officers, police said. Rhea was also combative during his treatment, threatening the medics, police said. Rhea continued to be “very combative” when two different officers placed him in a patrol car, police said. A nurse at the Fayette County Jail determined he was under the influence of an undetermined narcotic and needed hospital treatment, police said. Officers took Rhea to Southern Regional Hospital where he became coherent and compliant after about four hours, police said. Rhea was then taken back to the Fayette County Jail, police said. He is charged with seven counts of making terroristic threats, two counts of obstruction of a police officer, one count of disorderly conduct, six counts of simple assault, one count of criminal trespass and one count of being a pedestrian under the influence. login to post comments |
