I can't wait for Cal to delete their stupid advertisement since it's not allowed.

Wow cyclist...such hostility.

If I've crossed some line in the sand from an editorial perspective, I'll certainly be the first one to rescind the announcement and get the word out elsewhere.

All of the members in the band live and serve in the community, have a following made up largely of members of the community and support our community newspaper as well.

If this is not the forum or vehicle with which to communicate community interests, by all means, Cal should remove it.

In the meantime, we'd love to have you come join us! It sounds like you could use a nice night out and perhaps a frosty adult beverage to help you relax.

Thanks for your interest in our tiny announcement!

It's a real simple rule if you want to advertise there is information below of who to contact. The Citizen makes its money through advertisements. This in turn allows Cal to provide this blogging forum free of charge to us bloggers. So if you really want to do us all a favor buy your advertisement instead of a being a freeloader.

How can I advertise on your site?

Contact a Sales Representative by calling 770-719-1880
or send an email to: ads@thecitizen.com and your information will be forwarded to a Sales Representative.

Cyclist...

Again, apologies if I'm not understanding the concept correctly but I don't see it as being much different than any other type of "announcement" type of blog posting I see here.

For instance, you wrote in your blog...

Wulfman's Wish.....

"All, Cal has graciously allowed us to place an envelope at the office of The Citizen. The envelope is titled "Wulfman's Wish" and is at the front office. I will collect this envelope on Dec 5 at 5:30 PM."

Your intention was to announce something you felt was important to communicate. Yours could certainly be construed as being more noble than mine but I think the intention is the same, no?

What if I had made this posting with the intention of donating my personal proceeds from the event to Wulfman's Wish? Would that have made the "advertisement" more palatable in your eyes?

It's nothing more than an announcement from a group looking for a little support from the local community, just as you appear to be. And, for the record, I'd be more than happy to make a donation.

Again, thanks for your interest in our humble post. Cal does an amazing job with SEO and seeing that Google crawls his site an average of about once per day, you are really helping to make what was a simple little announcement, a big hit with the search engines. If you are genuinely concerned about this being an advertisement, you'll quit while you are ahead.

you are doing this for personal gain.

And if you knew me at all, you'd know I'm not even remotely close to posting this as a means of supplementing my income, which is why I sincerely offered the donation.

Believe me when I say I play music for fun, not for money and my only interest is reaching out to those who may not have heard about the event via an announcement. I say again, if this is not the forum, I sincerely apologize and I'll be glad to remove it myself if it's misplaced.

For future reference, however, I think your approach might have been moderately better received had you tried to advise rather than accuse. Being the experienced blogger that you obviously are, you should take it upon yourself to offer pearls of wisdom rather than sling verbal arrows in a negative manner.

I'm not a bad person, nor do I seek to mislead or cheat. Hopefully you'll try and view the glass as being half full next time instead of half empty and offer suggestions rather than insults.

Being "The Internet" this little site gets its fair share of people trying to sell their wares. We have had everything from car dealers to people selling thingamajigs.

I probably should have used a little better demeanor and I apologize if I have been a little rough but, several of use this forum and don't want it jeopardized hence we try to protect it. Anyways, Cal is the ultimate arbitrator so he will make that decision.

Cyclist...

I appreciate your pessimism given your experience on this site and I certainly understand your argument. I do hope you'll come out and see us sometime and allow me to buy you a beverage. It'll give you a much better understanding of the type of people we are and our intentions. And perhaps you'll even like what you hear!

Thanks for your candor and willingness to listen to my point of view. If it's deemed as inappropriate, I explore other avenues such as posting an ad (which I've done before) or perhaps submit it for some type of community calendar.

Thanks again!

that is just cyclist's opinion about how he doesn't like your advertising being on The Citizen's blog.

"I can't wait until tomorrow, because I get more lovable every day."

It must have been the whole "stupid" comment that led to my misinterpretation?
