By: The Citizen
The annual enrollment period for Medicare Part D began Nov. 15, 2008, for eligible participants. Medicare prescription drug coverage is insurance that covers both brand-name and generic prescription drugs at participating pharmacies. The insurance provides protection if you pay high drug costs or have unexpected prescription drug bills. Everyone with Medicare is eligible for this coverage, regardless of income and resources, health status, or current prescription expenses. If you didn’t join when you were first eligible, your next opportunity to join will be from Nov. 15, 2008, to Dec. 31, 2008. To help seniors better understand the plan, an information session will be presented by DaVette Taylor Harris with the Atlanta Regional Commission’s Area Agency on Aging. The session will be held on Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Fayette Senior Services Life Enrichment Center, 4 Center Drive in Fayetteville. The free session is open to the public with no pre-registration necessary.
