Cherokee to tackle illegal immigration.

I admire them even though it's not going to work. Local laws are not the answer for a national problem.

But, it is.

It is the ONLY way to resolve the problem if you really want it resolved.

Companies who hire and rent out illegals should be punished by law by the local justice system!

When found illegal, give them to INS for disposal to their country.

Do you really want a bunch of feds floating around PTC, Fayetteville, Tyrone, Senoia, trying to catch ilklegals and companies violating the law? I thought most here wanted the feda out of our business!

Yours is the argument of "we have to say we don't want them, but we do, really."

A Saxby speech on "we can't send them home now, the crops are out!"

I did not say that it not a local law problem. It is a national problem. Laws defining immigration are the domain of the federal government - 8 CFR - that is, Title 8 of the Code of Federal Regulations as adopted. States do not establish immigration policies nor laws.

As for the proposed Cherokee County laws, oh please. These types of laws have been tried before and met similar judicial challenge and failure. The very first problem one runs into is establishing one's legal status. If my name is Jose Gonzales Frijoles should I have to produce more documentation that someone named Jimmy Carter to prove my legal status? Now, if someday we have a national ID card that can't be counterfeited then perhaps we can take a better approach. Who knows, maybe that chip embedded at birth is not too far off.

BTW, it's not the local authorities to find them illegal and then send to the INS. The local authorities don't have a clue. It's the department of Homeland Security and its agent - Immigration and Customs Enforcement - ICE

What is an ilklegals, is that a Russian illegal? What's a feda, some kinda cheese? How long do we keep them clogging up our jails waiting for the INS to pick them up. I have no problem with the feda trying to catch ilklegals and companies violating the law.

I yam what I yam....Popeye

All illegal immigrants MUST self-deport or be forcibly deported!!!

Illegals do the following:

- steal our jobs
- depress wages
- have anchor babies
- steal our identities
- steal healthcare
- steal welfare / wic
- steal education benefits
- overburden our schools
- increase crime
- don't assimilate / don't speak English
- send money out of the country
- change our culture

Illegal immigration is not fair to immigrants that use the legal process!!!

.....also:
-built your home
-are the labor building I-85
-prepare your food at your local mexican Restaurant
-clean your house
-babysit your children
-attend the local Hispanic mission in your "church"
-pay their tithe in your "church"
-mow your lawn and landscape your yard
-perform all the jobs you would not
-energize the economy
-have traveled outside "Georgia" and "Fayette County"
-speak at least one and a half languages (more than you, moron Milt)

If the legal process would work, they all would be legal. But no sweat, they are not going anywhere, they are here to stay. So, I suggest you start taking Spanish classes in order to shake out your redneckness a bit.

Not to mention they also help support our Social Security program.
Those of you who are counting on government welfare through Social Security when you retire might want to think about the illegal immigrants who give fake social security numbers to get jobs. They're paying SS taxes, but won't ever be able to claim benefits based on their work. So when you're getting your Social Security welfare check in retirement, just remember the people that helped make it possible.

There but for the grace of your God go you. If you were living in a subsistence condition in Guatemala and needed to take care of your family, you'd be crazy to not come here to the US and work. I can't blame illegals for being here and working hard. Those of you who go on about "family values" should really think about that when you rant about illegals. If my family was starving and I knew I could go to another country and work to support my children, my butt would be over the border in a heartbeat to do whatever it takes to care for my family.

And those who rant about how illegals have taken your job away from you should post some evidence. I doubt many (if any at all) Fayette County folks have been put out of work by illegals.

And 50 years from now all of our grandchildren will have to hear how we lured poor foreigners to this country by offering them work and the good life, allowing them to illegally cross the borders. Once here “we” paid them substandard wages to do lowly work and forced them to struggle in poor living conditions while turning them into criminals by letting them get bogus credentials just so they could drive “us” around and build “our” fancy houses and do all the grunt work in “our” factories and building industry.

The illegal alien situation is nothing more than a modern day spin on slavery. Our grandchildren will pay for “us” letting all of these poor people come here to make life good for “us” while paying them low wages and making them live as criminals, and they’ll owe their grandchildren something to make up for it.

Being suddenly unemployed with no retirement left gives a completely different perspective. These people are illegally taking jobs that legal Americans could and would do, bringing down property values by taking over houses and neighborhoods. We pay the taxes while they are crowding our schools, roads and hospitals, taking any kind of assistance they can get and using their ill-gotten gains to keep prices inflated in our stores.

I admire those who come legally and work to assimilate into this country as my ancestors did, but people who come here illegally just to live off the land and take hand-outs need to be sent packing. Plenty of hard-working American citizens now need some of the jobs and services that these illegals have been sucking dry.

In fact, the first illegal aliens to come to America were a bunch of "pilgrims" in a ship called "The Mayflower". None of them had visas, and if they had them, they simply decided to overstay their presence, no one got deported. The real Americans hosted them in a show of humanity that is hard to find among some "christians" in Fayette Co. You all probably need to review the story of the first Thanksgiving, back in the 1620s. Many other instances of history shows hoe the U.S. expanded its dominion forcefully taking over lands that once belonged to France, Mexico, Spain, etc., in fact moving the border and leaving millions of Mexicans become "foreigners" in their own land.
History has a way to repeat itself and bring some justice. Who knows if in the future we will see unemployed Americans without retirement (as you) fleeing their broken economy, trying desperately to make it to China as illegals....payback on the day of reckoning.

Is that what is taught in Mexico my feathery friend? It seems you conveniently left out how Cortez planted the Spanish Flag in Mexico while those that came after him did the same in other areas of the Americas. And what happen to the Aztecs? Oh, that's right they were sent packing. Lets see Cortez was in Mexico......help me out here............that's right, in 1519.

According to the "histroyans", the Spaniards conquered Mexico and the rest of the Americas. The Aztecs and others were sent packing or became the exploited masses (such as in Guatemala and Bolivia where Amerindians still exist with their own languages and customes). All of these is true, as are the facts on my blog. By the way, it is "Cortes" and not "Cortez". Nice try, though, my yellow friend, you seem to have more brains that the others here.

"These people are illegally taking jobs that legal Americans could and would do, bringing down property values by taking over houses and neighborhoods."

You wanna come over here and help me put up drywall? How about helping me shingle my new porch in the sweltering August sun? I could find an American crackhead to do the work, but I'd rather not have them in my house, thankyouverymuch. The very nice Guatemalan guy I hired from the front of Home Depot did an amazing job helping me out, and showed more work ethic than I've seen in most Americans.

I laugh at the people who say that illegal immigrants are putting people out of work. When I've hired illegals (or those I assume are illegal- I care more about willingness and ability work work than immigration status), I've paid them as much as I'd pay an American to do the work. But I'd be hard pressed to find an American who is willing and able to do the same work with the same effort. If you'd like to prove them wrong, then put up or shut up.

"We pay the taxes"

Sure, we pay the taxes. So do they. The difference is that we can claim services based on the taxes we pay (theoretically), while they can't. How many illegal immigrants are going to claim Social Security welfare benefits when they retire based on the false SSNs they've given to get jobs over the years? How many illegal immigrants are going to enjoy the full use of the public services their sales taxes pay for, when they're afraid to call the police lest they be deported?

It's insane to see those who benefit from globalization gripe about it so much. Those who have never needed to hire low skilled labor don't understand the problems with Americans that lead people to hire illegals.

Is going to be a tough nut to crack as long as polictians make promises that compromise existing laws. The solution is to not to change existing laws but rather enforce them.

The legal process works for those who apply and come here illegally.
Some how or other roads and houses got built, lawns got mowed, cooks worked in restaurants, babysitters were available before the influx of illegals. When you have lost your business because you choose not to use illegal labor and a business rival can undercut you with low-wage workers, when you lose your job to someone who will work for a third of your salary (which was not huge to begin with)then talk to me about how our economy and community are affected. Yes, they may take jobs at wages no American citizen will take but that is because they are willing to rent a house, use it as a flop house with ten to twenty people in it--ruin the house and the neignborhood. Is this the way you, as an American citizen (if you are an American citizen) would want to live. Not me.

I know personally of someone who has been here for a number of years, got a bogus social security card, worked, sent most of his money back home while living in a house with about 15 others. Then went back across the border, brought back his girlfriend (left his wife and children in Mexico) took her immediately to get her bogus social security card. Now they are both driving with bogus drivers licenses, no insurance, getting free medical care, etc. Tell me how this is right.

Too many people have waited and come over here legally, learned the language, worked and paid their dues. How is it fair to them when someone sneaks back and forth across the border at will--snubbing their nose at our laws and our system?

If not us, then who? Last time I checked we are not being over taken by Swedes, Norwegians, and Germans. I clean my house. My mom and mother in law watch my children. I or my son mow my lawn. My whole family cleans my house. How do you know what job I would not do? I have traveled outside the country.I can speak functional Dutch and get by in French. You assume way too much Foghorn Leghorn!
