Tyrone Council Above the Law

Using revenue from an enterprise fund (sanitation) to fund other activities is simply illegal (o.c.g.a. 36-81-2). Even Grace Caldwell knows this but then if you are above the law, it does not matter.

And why does the council ignore these violations when it’s pointed out in black and white to them? Why do they spend taxpayers’ money to pay lawyers to fight citizens who only want them to follow the law? It’s easier, not to mention proper, to do what’s right than to do wrong. Using revenue from one designated fund on other activities has been common practice for years in Tyrone. What ever happened to the developers’ impact fees that were not properly allotted? The zoning ordinance has been violated more times than a computer can count. Why does Tyrone operate off a zoning ordinance that conflicts with the ordinance they sell to the public? Why do they refuse to ask for the return of taxpayers’ money that was taken for vacation pay in violation of their pay plan regulations? Why do candidates lie to the public when seeking their votes? How is Tyrone paying off the $600,000 plus dollars they owe on the library? Does Tyrone have any outstanding bond payments? We see an adopted proposed budget, but has anyone ever seen an actual income and expense statement? Here are some answers and statements coming out of town hall.
1) Silence. 2) You need an open records request. 3) I’ll have to ask the lawyer. 4) We don’t want to pursue that because the employee might file a lawsuit. 5) I live in this town too and want the best for Tyrone. 6) I’m afraid of my job. 7) Thanks for letting me know about this problem, but you ought to see all these other problems. 8) I’ve asked for the records too but never received them. 9) I can’t get other council members to do anything. 10) I’m so upset about it, I’ve been crying for days. 11) The mayor turned in his resignation but the council wouldn’t accept it. 12) The mayor turned in his resignation again, this time the council just ignored it. 13) I just want to do what’s right for everyone. 14) I don’t want to change the zoning ordinance. 15) I’m satisfied with our notification procedures . 16) It’s your job as a citizen to read the legal ads everyday. 17) It’s not my job to notify the citizens of any change of laws. 18) Which list of land uses do we use? 19) You wouldn’t believe what a mess our files are in, I can’t find anything. 20) I told the town manager last year to get the laws codified properly but the council won’t appropriate the money. 21) Yes they did, $6,000 is in the budget for it. 22) I have a recent certified copy of the ordinance but section 10’s not in it. 23) I can’t let you see my copy, just go by the town hall tomorrow and get another copy. And on and on and on………………………………....
