So many people are beside you right now; people you may not see, but are there none the less; around the globe; in various cities and communities; from all walks of life and vocations/professions. And do you know what we have in common? You, Greg, and Lisa, and the pure admiration we have for the support you gave Wulfman in his challenging hours. Surely you know that he wishes you to continue his memory; to cherish each day like the gift that it is. We are all lifting you and your family up. You are living examples of what is right in this country; in this world. May you feel the love that we all are pouring out to you, and may it lift you up daily. The world is a better place because your family is in it. Again, thank you all for sharing your lives with us.

Cheers!

Your wonderful husband meant so much to us on this site. We feel we know you as well from his blogs. Please fight to remain with us. Wulfman would be so sad to know you were giving up. This old world needs all the good people like you and your family. There is not enough goodness and kidness in this world--please stay well and stay with all of us as long as possible. Your family needs you now more than ever.

Greg, Lisa, Linda...I'm so sorry that Wulfman has passed on and now, that Linda has fallen ill. Sometimes, all the heartache is just too much for one family to bear.

Greg, Lisa, when you get some time, if you haven't done this already, you might want to conduct an "Advanced Search" on the Citizen and download all of Wulfman's posts, blogs, and comments, along with the conversations he was having with other bloggers. I remember many of his posts were pretty good, funny, and very compassionate when many of us were hurling zingers at each other. I remember when he and I, along with some other bloggers, battled the BPR/Lilly "entity" together this past spring - that was an interesting time! I've thought about archiving many of my own posts and blogs, for my kids, so they will know more about me someday, when the time is right. I can hear them now..."gosh mom, you were such a flaming liberal...."

Love to you all and to your family. I hope that you will all heal soon and feel peace once again.

In memory of Wulf:

Somewhere Over the Rainbow

(p.s. I love this song...the singer Israel Kamakawiwo, died recently...I wasn't aware of this until just now)

Yeah, I think he was one of the good guys.

Wulf figured out my true identity well before the loonies did. He kept it to himself, though.

I looked above to see reference to his wife's illness and didn't see it. What's going on? I certainly wish the best for her through it all.

Life can be brutal at times.

Greg posted this today, in another thread. I hope she is okay:

"We laid Wulfman to rest yesterday in NC.
Linda collapsed at the ceremony and is now hospitalized. She may have had a stroke we are awaiting test results.

We were planning on having a memorial service in Atlanta for Wulfman but now I don’t know if it’s going to be possible.

Our family just can’t seem to get a break."

Oh, man.

Sounds like this lady has lost a part of herself in losing him. I think I understand that, as I don't know where I end and my wife begins.

My uncle died at 87 in October. He and my aunt had been an item for nearly 70 years. On the one hand, she could say that he had a long and healthy life until the end and that they had many, many good years together. Not everyone has been so blessed. And, she has a strong faith that he is with God and that she'll join him before too long. But, on the other, they were so close, so much in love over all of those years, that now she is just lost without him. It's heartbreaking, really.

In the meantime I will double time on my prayers for strength for Mrs. Wulf.

When you're faced with this, it's hard, very hard, to let go. I didn't want to let go and didn't for a long while. My husband told me what to do before he became incapacitated. I had told him to do the same for me.

I understand Mrs. Wulf, I pray God will give you strength. God Bless you.
Prayers continue for Mr.Wulfman and his family.

In 1997 my fiance' went into diabetic coma. They then found she had developed hydrocephalis. She was on support for 9 days when they said she would not recover. Pulling the plug was the saddest most heart breaking thing I have ever done or probably will do in my life. There was one thing though: she told me that she didn't want to ever be on machines like that, so it was sort of her decision too.

I truly hate it for Mrs. Wulf. She and family are in my prayers.

DarthDubious's picture
Submitted by DarthDubious on Fri, 01/09/2009 - 2:03pm.

I don't know if I'm strong, I just wanted to do the right and honorable thing by her. I do have a strong since of loyalty to the ones I love, and think that no matter what differences we may have with our family members, all that stuff should go out the window when one of them is in in the hospital needing us to be there for them.

I stayed by my girl the whole time except to go shower and eat. Even at the funeral home if I wasn't there with her, my Momma was at her side. We kept ourselves beside her until she was safe in the ground and her spirit gone to God. 11 years and it still feels like it happened only yesterday. Man it kills me, and I think about every day.

I'm sorry to lay all this stuff on you Sky, and I'm blubbering all over my keyboard. I don't speak alot about this, it brings all that hurt again. Just trying to relate it so maybe someone can get something good out of it, learn from it, and maybe help them to know they aren't alone in the situation.

Cyclist,

Wulfman never made it home.

On the trip home Wulfman suffered a life ending brain hemorrhage. He is currently on life support, Linda thinks he's going to pull out of this but the EGG test shows no brain activity and the doctors told us there's no chance for recovery.

Dad suffered a lot during his illness and never complained.

Yesterday I stood by dad's bed held his hand and spoke to him thinking some how he would come back to us; but after a while I finally realized that on New Years Eve God wrapped his arms around dad and took him home.

I miss dad tremendously but now realize that he's in a better place and will suffer no more.

I will let you know when Linda makes a decision on discontinuing dad's life support.

I came home after an extended trip to read that Wulfman was doing great and posting--then to read today that he is gone. Maybe the family (and his blogging family) was given a special gift for the holidays to have him rally enough to be able to post and communicate. Loss is never easy and it must be extremely hard for the family of someone so wonderful. May his family rejoice in the time and love they had with this wonderful man. I feel honored to have "known" him for the little time I did on this site. Joey's Toy Box will be one of my regular donations from now on--in his memory.

Because I know that you are reading the blogs from a much, much more comfortable place. Thank you for helping us all to grow so much. When you were first hospitalized, I was so so sad. But as you fought and fought and all the while focused on the well being of everyone else, I realized that this was the life of a man who is destined for an eternal reward. I am remarkably happy for you, because you achieved that which most of us can only hope we someday find; a life well lived.
