What is the Tyrone Council Afraid of?

Tyrone’s Council apparently is afraid of the citizens they represent. Why else would they refuse to post minutes of their meetings. The last minutes posted are from September. When they were running for office they promised to keep the citizens informed. Tracy Young bragged about how easy it was to post the minutes and even committed to send them out as part of the Town Crier. Now after they are elected we get nothing. Why? It doesn’t seem right or honest.

Tyrone's monkey business with Sunshine Laws is similar to what Fayette County used to do. Fayette County Commission would play hide-and-go-seek with the Meeting Minutes (especially the Executive Session) and also with the Budget.

And it does not matter if they were sworn in or not. They made many decisions that affected the Town of Tyrone with input from the public and no public meetings. They made up their minds and voted, beforehand. And the lawyer told them it was ok.

Come to think of it--- that's the common thread between the old Commission and the Tyrone Council. They have the same lawyer Overbill McNally milking them and telling them how they can cut corners.

The politicians lie to get into office. They’re concerned only about themselves and have no shame or moral values. Politicians exemplify and are the cause of our financial collapse. Tax & spend has been their motto for many years. They took an oath to uphold the constitution which required them to protect the people’s rights. Money was stolen from the taxpayers and Tyrone’s council refuses to do anything about it. They hang on to a zoning ordinance that restricts business uses which in turn restricts government revenue, causing a $220,000 monthly shortfall. They paid the loss from a CD until property taxes come in at the year’s end. As property values go down, so does Tyrone’s revenue. You figure it from here. The planners are working off a section 10 zoning regulation in hopes of getting government grants for downtown redevelopment. But for 5 years they’ve sold a zoning ordinance to the citizens which doesn’t contain a section 10 or 14 other laws that were passed and not being followed. Tyrone’s current government is just like the others that came before them. Yes, they all were secret, yes, they’re dishonest. Yes, they’re stupid. And let’s add a few more. They’re incompetent, greedy, uncaring and criminal. Just like those who came before them, including the lawyers. In America and Tyrone, we don’t have government for the people . We have government for the politicians. Any citizen who tries to correct the mess gets drug down into the gutter with them.

TJAM,

Check the facts before expounding on something you know nothing about. The Tyrone web site was broken and is just now getting back to something approaching normal. The Action Agenda for the last meeting is up there, so one can see what was discussed and decided upon, formal minutes cannot be posted without approval of the council.

I know that you can read, since you can write. Please use the first skill before the second.

Aw they set the precedent with the secret meetings BEFORE they were sworn in.

Remember they interviewed town manager and town attorney candidates at Rehwaldt's house?

I feel for the Tyrone employees because I'm pretty sure this secrecy is covering up some MAJOR micro-management.

Hell, they're afraid of letting go of undeveloped land that could become a college with students that would SHOP and EAT in Tyrone.

Stupid is as stupid does.

you make yourself so obvious with your rants about how great schools in the middle of no where are, that only the developers owning the property around them could appreciate.

Then you jump back to your favorite topic, Tyrone. You are so jealous of their elections, you take every opportunity to call the locals stupid.

How can you have a secret meeting when not sworn in? Open meetings don't apply until a person takes office. Check the law before spouting off. Secret implies illegal, there was nothing illegal about meeting. Get your fact straight.

If there were problems with employees, they'd be leaving. They haven't been. While you can't prove a negative, the signs are pretty clear. I'd work there!

The college can come and pay it's taxes to Tyrone, not PTC, can't you see that!??? That's why PTC wants to annex it, for the taxes!! Why shouldn't those taxes go to Tyrone? Pay attention...use your head!!

Tyrone sets a poor example for the students. They need to be more honorable about their dealings.

Fondly,

talking to your self again?

Not everyone has a brown nose from developers. 74 is already congested, and from Parrots funeral home to 85 is virtually a parking lot during rush hour.
