To Hack and Fayette County

After tonight, my 97-year-old mother made a profound observation. She shared that we no longer have to worry about how Black Americans are portrayed in the media - for we now have a Black American family in the White House as role models of what can be achieved and has been achieved in this country when citizens take advantage of the opportunities that the United States offers to its citizens. As we watched the huge crowds celebrate this historic event - our 'America' was represented by all ages, colors, occupations, etc., etc., etc. This Obama campaign organization has taken a great step in bringing this country together.

I was so impressed with the dignity and class of Senator McCain's concession speech. This man has so much to contribute to the future of our country.

Now we have to continue to work together to help this country live up to the words in our Constitution. We will still argue, and rightly so, our different approaches to solving our problems. . .but with our goal being the improvement of our democracy and our contribution to the world - we will succeed in regaining the respect of the world.

The new leadership has unbelievable challenges ahead - but Obama appears to be a leader who can get those with opposite points of view to communicate- and work together. That's a step forward.

but I must point out that there have been role models in place for many years. Starting with Martin Luther King, Jr., Andy Young, Colin Powell, Condi Rice, Tiger Woods and so many more. Let's hope that young people do learn to hold up President-Elect Obama as their hero rather than the rappers and thugs who promote violence and misogony.

I had felt through this whole election process that there was really no one running who should hold that office. Now, Mr. Obama has become President-Elect Obama and, as an American, I will be praying that he can lead this country back on the right path. God Bless this great country of ours.
