In my race for mayor I have focused on three major areas where I believe our current city administration has failed us: leadership, financial accountability, and quality of life.

It takes strong leadership to make the tough decisions we face in our community. I’ve spent my professional career in senior management positions, gaining valuable experience in business operations, auditing, financial planning, and fraud investigation.

I have also served my country as a leader in the Army National Guard, retiring at the rank of colonel. As both a military and corporate leader for almost 40 years, I have been blessed with experiences that will help me effectively lead our city as we face such important decisions as rezoning and resource management.

Financial accountability, sensible budgeting, and resource management are among the most vital roles of our next mayor. We’ve seen tax increases for four consecutive years, while visible signs of infrastructure problems continue to appear. This signals a lack of financial responsibility in our current administration.

I want to use my experience as a certified internal auditor, fraud investigator, and business operations manager to evaluate our city government for efficiency, as well as to better manage our budget. This way we can stabilize and work to reduce the tax burden on our citizens.

As a resident of this great city, I value our tremendous quality of life and our sense of community. But we still face many challenges to our quality of life in the coming years.

The West Village land must be developed to our planning standards, and as mayor I will be proactive to ensure those standards are met.

We must also improve relations with our neighboring governments, most of all in planning transportations projects that will affect us all.

Our signature cart paths add convenience to our lives and heighten our sense of community, and they must be better maintained to prevent costly repairs in the future.

As your next mayor, I will work hard to protect our community interests, and I will work hard to bring efficiency and fiscal responsibility to our government. I will bring strong and effective leadership to the office of mayor, and I ask for your support to make that happen.

This November we will decide on the future of our community. With your help and your vote, together we will move Peachtree City forward to a better and brighter future.

Mayoral Candidate Logsdon has brought up some interesting points, but one particular one that I feel should be rebutted is the financial accountability section. In his article, Mr. Logsdon states: "We’ve seen tax increases for four consecutive years, while visible signs of infrastructure problems continue to appear. This signals a lack of financial responsibility in our current administration."

The problem that I have with this statement is that this infrastructure didn't suddenly dissolve. It shows all the signs of neglect from years prior. The cart paths didn't suddenly erode and crack from roots in the last 4 years alone. I know that I haven't seen a sudden growth spurt in these trees in the last 4 years. This has been an ongoing issue that was neglected by administrations prior to this one.

The storm water issue, which is a statewide issue; didn't just happen today either. The former administration appears to have shown lack of financial responsibility with regards to the infrastructure, yet this candidate doesn't seem to want to point the finger of blame at them.

The current administration is at least spending roughly $6,000,000.00 of SPLOST money to repair the cart paths. How much did the prior administration spend during its tenure?
