FROM DEMOCRACY TO OLIGARCHY

The American Republic was established 225 years ago whereby the people selected representatives to protect their rights and run their government for the best interests of everyone. That system is dead, corrupted by our representatives (politicians) for their own selfish interests.
What we have now is an oligarchy. Webster’s Dictionary defines an oligarchy as “government by the few; a government in which a small group exercises control, especially for corrupt and selfish purposes.”
We have trusted politicians and they have taken advantage of us. They get elected by lying and making promises they never intend to keep. They take an oath to uphold the constitution, and never give that oath another thought. Once in office, they consolidate their power through secrecy. They use such methods as executive sessions, refusing to provide public records, passing destructive laws, hiring managers to do their dirty work, and lawyers who manipulate the laws. To stay in power, they raise taxes and give government employees large benefits, who vote them back in year after year. They stamp out opposition by taking down their opponents’ election signs and demonizing anyone who asks questions or speaks out against them. They develop circles of power within the government to keep investigative agencies from investigating.
You see all of this from the federal level to local governments, in Peachtree City, Tyrone, Fayetteville and the County. There is no limit to what these politicians will do for their own selfish benefits. Everyone should read Steve Brown’s expose´ in the The Citizen Newspaper, Wed. Oct. 22, 2008 about the FCBOE. What Mr. Brown has so excellently exposed is happening in all governments.
But the silent majority is still dead silent; oligarchic government reigns supreme. Our national fiscal system has collapsed from greedy political spending. And don’t anyone dare speak out. It’s all for the children, they will inherit the fruits of the oligarchy’s colossal mess. The children of tomorrow will hate their parents for not standing up and leaving them with unemployment, high taxes, and debt to be repaid. Their high SAT scores will not provide them with a job to pay the debts. Democracy is gone, never to return.
The Smola’s and the Smith’s are everywhere. They along with their supporters control the executive, legislative and judicial branches of government with their good old boy networks. Control by the oligarchy today, revolution tomorrow, when the impoverished majority finally realizes they’ve been taken by a democracy gone with the winds of greed.
