A man who ran away from a Fayetteville police officer during a traffic stop this afternoon didn't get away for long.

The suspect eluded apprehension briefly by disappearing into a kudzu-covered area near Sweet Returns Recycling off Ga. Highway 85 and Georgia Avenue. But officers responding to the scene got solid information on the suspect's whereabouts immediately that lead to his capture, police reported.

The suspect, whose identity was not immediately available, was pulled over by a Fayetteville police officer on Tiger Trail near Fayette County High School shortly after 3:30 p.m.

The officer said the suspect fled on foot, leaving his vehicle behind in the high school parking lot, setting off the brief manhunt. The suspect was found in less than 10 minutes.

The suspect was arrested near Sweet Returns, police reported.

The officer who the suspect ran from initially indicated that he had no pending charges other than running away from him and possibly a false name or date of birth violation, but the matter is still under investigation, police said.

"no pending charges other than running away from him and possibly a false name or date of birth violation" I'm sure it won't take to much looking to find out why he really ran.
