Pit stop alcohol sales nuked for a month

It always pays to check. That was the position taken by Fayetteville City Council Oct. 16 when they imposed a $1,000 fine and a 30-day license suspension on alcohol sales to the Pit Stop located at 438 South Glynn Street for selling to underage customers.

The fine and suspension came at the recommendation of Police Chief Steve Heaton, who cited three infractions since May 2007.

Georgia agents caught store employees selling to underage customers in May 2007, followed by city police finding the same issue in November 2007 and, in April of this year, police charged the store with having an employee selling alcohol without a permit.

Serves the Pit Stop right that they got their license suspended!

The McIntosh High School cheerleader outfit that the underage decoy was wearing should have been a tip-off... Eye-wink

Give them a choice between the fine and the suspension. I bought alcohol in Fayetteville for 3 years before i was 21. I found a way. Anyone can find a way.

I wouldn't be surprised if the cops dressed up 20 year olds to look like 35 year olds just to trick the clerk. That's why 90 year olds have to show id. Jerks...

Leave them alone. Stop making drugs easier to get than alcohol. Don't fool yourself.

They send children in to purchase the alcohol.
That way a reasonable person would assume (even without looking at their ID) that they are way below the legal age.

if that is true, then fine.

I've just read and heard of instances where they literally put make up and old folks clothes on 20 year olds to try to make them look much older than they are. I can't remember if any of that was in Fayetteville, but it does happen in other towns.

Things like that are so ridiculous. Thats why 40+ year olds have to show ID at stores and restaurants. I would like to think that Fayetteville wouldn't stoop to that level, but ya never know...
