A tornado touched down briefly Oct. 8 at the Fayette Pavilion in Fayetteville, causing “moderate structural damage” in the busy shopping center, according to a revised storm report from the National Weather Service office in Peachtree City.

No injuries were reported from the event.

The same storm system also caused wind damage shortly after 4 that afternoon in Tyrone. The NWS reported “eight to 12 trees down in the Arrowwood Road area and superficial damage to office buildings along Palmetto Road.”

The tornado hit the Pavilion about 15 minutes later, the NWS said. It reported “moderate structural damage to a building wall, a HVAC (air conditioning) unit blown over, minor facade damage to several buildings [and] a few trees blown down.”

The NWS said the tornado path was 150 yards long and 50 yards wide.

Though the official NWS report listed no tornado strength, the extent of damage produced by the funnel cloud likely would be in the range of an EF0 to EF1 on the Enhanced Fujita Scale, or wind speeds of under 110 miles per hour.

... didn’t pick-up all the drug dealers, kidnappers, and thugs and drop them off someplace else. Maybe then we could let our kids venture into the ghetto without the fear of losing them as victims of crime.
