Palin Not Qualified as V.P. Says Who????

Who says Sarah is not qualified to be V.P. Consider this that was sent to me by relatives in Alaska...and then consider who Obama's friends are Past and present...such as Willam Ayers Saul D. Alinsky and then there is Rev. Wright...20 years of listening to him "Damn America and Obama doesn't leave until it becomes political baggage for him "Tell me who you walk with and I will tell you who you are".

Don't dismiss the fact that Sarah Palin is Commander of the Alaska National Guard-- consider this.

Alaska is the first line of defense in our missile interceptor defense system. The 49th Missile Defense Battalion of the Alaska National Guard is the unit that protects the entire nation from ballistic missile attacks. It's on permanent active duty, unlike other Guard units.

As governor of Alaska , Palin is briefed on highly classified military issues, homeland security, and counterterrorism. Her exposure to classified material may rival even Biden's and certainly by far exceeds Obama's.

She's also the commander in chief of the Alaska State Defense Force (ASDF), a federally recognized militia incorporated into Homeland Security's counterterrorism plans.

Palin is privy to military and intelligence secrets that are vital to the entire country's defense. Given Alaska 's proximity to Russia , she may have security clearances we don't even know about.

According to the Washington Post, she first met with McCain in February, but nobody ever found out. This is a woman used to keeping secrets.

She can be entrusted with our national security, because she already is.

I read this article yesterday, written by Matt Taibbi from Rolling Stone, and found a lot of truth in what he was saying. It's not just that Sarah Palin seems to be unqualified for the VP spot, and potentially President one day, it is what her candidacy says about America. At least for me, and many other voters I know, this article sums up exactly what so many Dem's, Independent and even some Repub voters see in Palin and explains why the "Joe Six-pack" crowd loves her. I've included the link to this article below but here is an excerpt:

"Here's the thing about Americans. You can send their kids off by the thousands to get their b%$$# blown off in foreign lands for no reason at all, saddle them with billions in debt year after congressional year while they spend their winters cheerfully watching game shows and football, pull the rug out from under their mortgages, and leave them living off their credit cards and their Wal-Mart salaries while you move their jobs to China and Bangalore.

And none of it matters, so long as you remember a few months before Election Day to offer them a two-bit caricature culled from some cutting-room-floor episode of Roseanne as part of your presidential ticket. And if she's a good enough likeness of a loudmouthed Middle American archetype, as Sarah Palin is, John Q. Public will drop his giant-size bag of Doritos in gratitude, wipe the Sizzlin' Picante dust from his lips and rush to the booth to vote for her. Not because it makes sense, or because it has a chance of improving his life or anyone else's, but simply because it appeals to the low-humming narcissism that substitutes for his personality, because the image on TV reminds him of the mean, brainless slob he sees in the mirror every morning.

Sarah Palin is a symbol of everything that is wrong with the modern United States. As a representative of our political system, she's a new low in reptilian villainy, the ultimate cynical masterwork of puppeteers like Karl Rove. But more than that, she is a horrifying symbol of how little we ask for in return for the total surrender of our political power."

The first word I thought of was one that McCain uttered when confronted with the same CRAP. Utterly ridiculous, Mean.

That 8 years ago we voted in a likable guy with modest academic and personal achievements. It is beyond arguable how the last 8 years have turned out. Republicans are not even using the word republican in their campaigns. The GOP has run and hidden from their president and would barely support him with the bailout (here they did not support the head of their party at all). Now, USArmybrat, if Sarah Palin is not a carbon copy of George Bush with designer glasses, what is she? Why else will you republicans attempt to take the mistakes of 2000 and 2004 and dress them in designer skirts to sell us again? And why do you think the rest of us here and the vast majority of humans around this planet are hoping that does not happen again? I think Taibby nailed this one. For some reason, many conservatives want to look smart next to their president.

Here's what Wikipedia has to say about your boy Matt Taibbi:

In March 2005, Taibbi wrote a column for NY Press, entitled "The 52 Funniest Things About the Upcoming Death of the Pope."[9] The column was denounced by Senator Hillary Clinton, New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Matt Drudge, and Abe Foxman, among others, including Congressman Anthony Weiner who suggested that New Yorkers take copies of that issue out of their news boxes and destroy them.[10] In a subsequent column entitled "Keep Pope Alive," Taibbi defended the controversial piece as "an off-the-cuff burlesque of Truly Tasteless Jokes," which he said was designed to give readers a break from a long run of "fulminating political essays" in his column space. Taibbi claimed his piece had been a protest against "the agonizing marathon of mechanized media grief and adulation we so inevitably go through after the passing of each and every hallowed leader or celebrity." In the same piece Taibbi admitted that the column was "written in the waning hours of a Vicodin haze."

That Rolling Stone is one serious think tank aren't they? Here's one that should keep you busy for hours:

Ya know moc, I posted this not because of a need for it to be factual, but because it is an OPINION piece that speaks to many of us who hold this same opinion of Sarah Palin. I actually thought it would help the Joe Six-pack crowd on here to understand why the majority of Americans aren't buying into the Palin hype and why she continues to plummet in the polls. It is not just her qualifications, or lack of.... it goes beyond that, which Taibbi so deftly explains.

Go ahead and shoot the messenger for stating his opinion, in this case Matt Taibbi, but you've lost the point of my original post.

Do you spend all day and night finding links regarding McCain and Palin shortcomings? Do you ever take a break and go out and enjoy this beautiful weather? Are you a paid employee of the "Let's Bash the Republicans" club? Sometimes I can just see you rolling around on the floor in unbridled joy when you think you have found something especially juicy. Did you ever think of getting another hobby? Will you go through withdrawal when the election is over?

I prefer my husband, thank you.

I am obsessed with this election, however, but the great thing has been that my children are becoming extremely interested in politics, the political process and American government, as well as international affairs. We have the news on in our house constantly.

Personally, I did minor in International Business plus received a certificate in International Affairs from a major University out west... so, I am very addicted to this stuff!

I just like to save people some time. At least those who actually wonder who wrote a cut and pasted piece, and what credibility they offer, if any. Unfortunately, lots of folks believe everything they read and think it is unbiased journalism. It's not shooting the messenger, it's deftly unveiling them.

I completely understand if you have concerns about Sarah Palin's qualifications. We have the same concerns about Barack Obama's qualifications.

This is in reply to the commentor who wrote: "Palin Not Qualified as V.P. Says Who????".

I do. As does many others.

It has recently been shown that Palin had yet another personal email account that she and her aides used for government business. Not the one that was hacked. They did not choose to pay for encryption of the email. Yet, you have no problem with entrusting her with matters of national security?

As for the comments regarding association of Obama, when was the last time you looked to see who was on McCain's bus? His entire campaign staff is comprised of lobbyists. One of which was being paid up through last month. Smacks of Keating to me.

Senator Obama graduated with a degree in political science specializing in International Relations. He then graduated magna cum laude from Harvard Law School. He was President of the Harvard Law Review. He is a professor of Constitutional Law.

Senator Biden also graduated from Law School. He has been a senator for many, many years. He has served on many committees. He has written many laws.

Palin graduated college after 6 years of flitting from junior college to college with a degree in journalism. She is a big fish in a small pond. She has not even made it to Washington yet, but already has a "gate" scandal. She has stonewalled the Investigation of her in Alaska, and her husband has even defied a subpoenae to testify. The judge ruled the subpoena valid October 3rd. But, you can bet that they will try to delay the investigation any way they can.

Appearing on Fox news Palin
"claimed that Couric's questions -- which produced a series of staggeringly embarrassing responses -- put her in a lose-lose position.

"The Sarah Palin in those interviews was a little bit annoyed," she said. "It's like, man, no matter what you say, you are going to get clobbered. If you choose to answer a question, you are going to get clobbered on the answer. If you choose to try to pivot and go to another subject that you believe that Americans want to hear about, you get clobbered for that too."

For the record, Couric asked her, among other things, what type of news sources she turns to for information, which Supreme Court decisions she disagreed with, why Alaska's proximity to Russia gave her foreign policy experience, her opinion of the bailout package for Wall Street, and where she thought Vice President Dick Cheney erred. Which one of those questions was designed to trip her up (as opposed to, say, give viewers a better sense of her character and views) is tough to ascertain.

Palin offered a sense of what she thinks would have been a fairer set of questions. Unsurprisingly, they all would have provided her the opportunity to rail against Obama.

"I wanted to talk about Barack Obama increasing taxes, which would lead to killing jobs. I wanted to talk about his proposal to increase government spending by another trillion dollars. Some of his comments that he's made about the war, that I think may, in my world, disqualify someone from consideration as the next commander in chief. Some of the comments that he has made about Afghanistan".

Welcome to the real world Sarah, I am sure once elected life will be all soft balls and ice cream cones.
