Let the molestation continue...

Could not help but notice that Goodwill Industries has decided to move to Fayetteville instead of Peachtree City. Do not get me wrong. I am not an opponent to Goodwill Industries and what they propose to create in Fayetteville. I think that it is probably something good for the county in the long run.

What I object to is the building of yet ANOTHER 25,000 sq. ft. building in an area where there are already a number of buildings of similar size still vacant. Is the solution to all our economic problems just to build more buildings?

And then there is a paragraph in the article that puzzles me somewhat. The Development Authority is involved in the process because it is being used as a conduit for $5.1 million in bonds to build the facility. Now I am not the wisest of economic observers, but that sounds suspiciously like the Development Authority is being ask to float a bond issue for the cost of this building...and THAT, ultimately puts you and I, the taxpayers of Fayette County, on the hook for this.

We continue to throw up buildings in Fayette County, seemingly without the most rudimentary efforts to coordinate that construction. When are we, the citizens, going to step up and say we have had enough?

Does anyone know when (and if) the next public meeting is being held on this issue? Are they going to care what the public wants, or is this going to be treated like the bypass - too bad, so sad, get over it?
