Lynn Westmoreland

We have endured a lot of campaign chatter about the presidential election. There has been some talk about our Senate races, but not much. What I think we need to reflect on is the election for the 3rd Congressional District. In the past few weeks, there was considerable print in the AJC about some pretty hypocritical stuff that Lynn Westmoreland said. I saw that Newsweek magazine last week had him out there as another pillar of stupid statements. With his past performance on the "Colbert Report" where he was unable to produce the subject matter of more than three or four of the Ten Commandments (seemingly his political base), maybe we should check into this guy Westmoreland a bit more. In checking his bio on his website and other internet information, he never graduated from college, and he never served in the military. His legislative record in Congress is abysmal. It appears that he is just a front man and a shill for the real estate/developers environment from which he came. His reputation among several local respected Republicans is less than sterling, and the only reason he is there is because no one else can shamefully raise the campaign contributions like he can. Maybe it is time we vote this guy out. There is word that he is on the short list for running for the Governor's office next time. He is sure to get killed there. He might actually have to get up and talk in front of reporters and be subject to close public scrutiny. His shortcomings would be readily apparent. His lack of knowledge of history, science, foreign languages, sociology, and other basic undergraduate requirements is obvious. We can do much better

I was stuck at the traffic light at Tyrone road at Highway 54 yesterday. I noticed the huge "Re-Elect Lynn Westmoreland" sign on the corner (kinda hard to miss) and saw beneath it "working to lower gas prices!"

Oh really?

What do you mean "maybe" it's time we vote this guy out??? He's a developer's "carside date" (if you know what I mean). He'll do whatever they want as long as they pay for him to MISrepresent the constituents of his district. Any smart man knows a "working girl" when he sees one. Eye-wink

He may call himself a Republican but he does the party no favors by claiming them as his own. No, send him back to the idiots that kneel at his feet. He can impress them by running for dog catcher (apologies to stray dogs).

Lets do what they did in the Movie "O brother were art thou",
RUN HIM OUT OF TOWN ON A RAIL! Now that I pay to see.

Now just tell me why in the Hell do I have to press 1 for English?

That's why I liked Ron Paul. He was the only one talking about term limits and those are the only things that will make politicians do what is best instead of what will get them elected. Why didn't people support Ron
paul, other than the fact he seems a bit goofy? Smiling

Westmoreland is bad enough, I guess. As for another political race that is in our area, I checked out the State Senate, where incumbent Ronnie Chance (R), is running against Jerry Brillant (D). Brillant is a Delta pilot, which is okay, I guess. Ronnie Chance is ”a marketing executive in public relations“. I know enough about airlines to figure out that you have to have some smarts to be a pilot. However, in checking the pedigree of Ronnie Chance on his website and other internet sources, he is a "Lobbyist", and made about $89,198 lobbying for special interests and corporate concerns (source: followthemoney.org). I find it rather strange in times like today that we find that lobbyists owning our government is bringing us to economic ruin, and that we would entertain a notion to keep a lobbyist in an office that is supposed to represent the people. Who lobbys a lobbyist? It sure can’t be the average citizen taxpayer.
