Government, we don't need an engineer

We finally seem near the tipping point that enough of us are absolutely sick of GOVERNMENT. Everywhere we turn there is more and more.

President Bush squandered any opportunity to reduce government with his compassionate conservatism. Under this president, federal job growth has averaged 0.73 percent per year, but employment rolls at state and local governments have grown even more rapidly, at rates of 0.88 percent for state governments and 1.21 percent for local governments. The growth in government jobs continues to out pace the private sector. It's like a train on a track with no brakeman. We have plenty of government employees, politicians, lobbyist, and other ne'er dowels up front "engineering".

We need government to start finding ways to cut spending, cut out all but vital programs and even trim those. What we need is a brakeman. Someone with the guts to just say no, who can actually stop the train and start unhooking cars.

We could only pray that the McCain/Palin ticket could begin to actually bring government under control. But who knows? It may be time to get the pitchforks and torches. Granted you can't stop a train with a garden tool but you can stop one with enough of them.
