County Commissioner Position Who to vote for?

CarpeDieminPTC's picture

I must encourage all Republicans to come together as soon as possible and get some traction on this March 21st Election before it is too late.

With 3 Republicans and 2 Democrats running, something wicked this way comes.

The Democrats have not run in a County Wide race in quite a few elections. Their struttin' their stuff when they put up two candidates. We need to put them back where they belong, in obscurity. But how?

Well thats the question...

We have two unknown Republicans running. One that runs a transmission shop, with no experience at all, and who has never darkened the door of a commission hearing or been to a single republican event.

We have another black candidate who also is an unknown. He arrives at one or two Republican Breakfasts and decides he is a Republican and wants our vote....

Then there is Emory Wilkerson who has
1.)run twice before as a Republican. He has run in Districts that were strong Democratic areas, but he fought hard.
2.)He has served on the Executive Board of the Fayette Republican Party.
3.)He is the only dues paying member to the Republican Party of any of the candidates.
4.)He has spoken at the Ronald Reagan Tribute during the week of morning and helped celebrate Ronald's 25th anniversary election with us.
5.)He has been involved at the grass roots level trying to set an example of what true conservative politicians should be.
6.)He is an attorney with trial and appellant court experience.
7.)He is also a good father and husband to a Fayette family that we all can be proud of.

The Democrats are awash with "anybody come latelys" whose only hope is that the Republicans screw up and give them a chance to squeak by.

The Republicans have a real choice to be made.

Support two new Republicans who have never shown any interest in public service prior to this election.....

Or Emory Wilkerson who has been fighting the good fight, proudly as a Republican for many, many years.

If the Republicans splinter their vote to these "johnny come latelys" we may end up with a county commissioner who represents the only Democratic seat on the board...

Do we really want this?

Please, don't let this happen in our County. We need to remain strong now, or sometime in the near future, Fayette will become another County like Clayton that is exclusively controlled by the Democrats.

If we give them an inch, then, trust me, they will take a mile.

I can't believe you said Horgan "has never darkened the door of a commission hearing or been to a single republican event" about the only white person in the county commission election.

"Darkening" a door is a racist comment designed to put the white guy at a disadvantage. Supporting Emory is one thing - but don't make it racial.

And who cares if someone is a Republican or not in a non-partisan election? It does not matter.

You are all wet. This is a partisan race as are all special elections to fill partisan posts. It certainly does matter what party someone identifies with. That tells the voters what the person is all about. As for "darkening" being racist - that is utterly absurd. Horgan may be a great guy, but no one knows him or anything about him. Wilkerson has been plugged into the party and the community for years. We know him.

Dear H. Hampster,
My apologizes if I took your post seriously as opposed to a wonderfully dry and sardonic example of wit, but alas I must take issue with your comments just in case they were serious, again, if they were in jest, then egg is on my face.

"darkening the door" is a term of literary art. How that becomes a racist comment is really, really sort of mind boggling. I suppose if I were to have been as clever as you think I am in trying to be as devious as this, then I'd be proud. Trust me I ain't that bright.

But I do take offence that the word RACIST roles off your keyboard so readily. I have found people that use the word Racist frequently are they themselves often racists. To assert so doggedly that my mere mention of a man failing to darken a door is somehow racists is just darn silly. I sometimes lose my patience with people who do this sort of thing but I will again assume that your post was in jest.

Oh, and as to Peter, I think I know the Peter to which you may refer, but alas, that Peter I am not. Actually, I forgot Peter even lived in PTC. If you read my blogs, I think you'd see Peter is too busy to be messing around on the web as much as I... Then again, I'm too busy to be on this dang computer as much as I am. So maybe I am Peter....

BTW: is Peter supporting Emory? I have no idea.

Dear H. Hampster, contrary to the old ways things were done in Georgia regarding special elections, this will be a PARTISAN race, and I'm glad of it.

This will mean no Democrat can sneak in under the cloak of non-partisanship like our past Mayor of PTC did.

Oh, wait, did I say Partisan Race....oh....my..... God... did I bring up race in a comment about a political election........

You see I can be a little sardonic too.

Who cares about a candidate's party affiliation in a non-partisan election? Almost everyone! Or at least they should. If I know nothing else about a candidate other than the fact he or she is Republican, that gives me at least some basis to vote. So, even in non-partisan elections, I think the wise voter wants to know the candidate's political affiliation.

By the way, Peter is no racist.

Yes, you are right, Dan. That is why we have political parties. Pick the one you most identify with and then we know something about you when we vote.

Peter is not a racist, but that blogger is not Peter.

Anyone who would think the term "darken the door" is racist must be nuts. Darken the door means casting your shadow as you enter. Maybe H. Hamster has a white shadow. Oh, hope that did not sound racist.

Thanks for paying attention. That was my goal. Pay attention and listen to what everyone says and then - vote!
Please!
