The tangled web they weave. Jeb's connection with the Fla. State Board of Administration (SBA) and Lehman...

"In June 2007, the firm (Lehman) hired former Gov. Jeb Bush —five months after he left office and the SBA board of trustees — to serve as a consultant and member of its private equity advisory board, which buys and sells companies worldwide.

Lehman Bros. happens to be a "huge player in Florida government finance:

* The Florida State Board of Administration (SBA), which handles investments for the Florida retirement system and 32 other funds, has hundreds of millions in potential losses from mortgage-related securities it bought last year from companies that used the bank as a broker.

* Through the SBA, state and local government are heavily invested in Lehman's own securities.

* Lehman manages the assets in two SBA funds.

Bush has declined to elaborate on his work for the firm but has said he played no role in the sale of securities that were later downgraded.

On Wednesday, he did not respond to an e-mail requesting comments. Lehman Brothers has refused to comment on Bush's duties or compensation."

Bank trivia question for the day:

What do Frank Keating, John McCain, Jeb and Neil Bush and John McCain's eldest son have in common?

I saw the St. Petersburg, FL, article about JEB working for Lehman Brothers as a consultant--on salary.

It seems the Bushes really are influential with banks, I remember Neal Bush, also the President's brothe,r and the Savings and Loans scandals!

You can bet that they are arranged in those jobs in such a fashion that their name never appears on any paper as someone working on say, the tons of money Florida may lose in the Lehman bankruptcy!

All this comes from the old Prescott Bush Grandaddy who made his fortune similarly!

I don't know why we continue to elect such families to the Presidency!

I was actually working in the oil industry out in Denver during the Silverado S&L debacle when Neil Bush was the director. We used to see Neil on occasion hanging out at some of the more fancier pubs in town, wheeling and dealing with the "oil trash" as we used to call ourselves back then. I still remember all the commotion in town when the Feds descended upon Denver based Silverado.

And now Jeb is following in his brothers footsteps. Can the Bushies screw up this country any more? And why McSame votes lock-step in line with this same mentality is just astounding. No wonder our country is in a downward financial spiral.

"Neil Bush was the most widely targeted member of the Bush family by the press in the S&L scandal. Neil became director of Silverado Savings and Loan at the age of 30 in 1985. Three years later the institution was belly up at a cost of $1.6 billion to tax payers to bail out."

Earlier today old Main had a link from Salon.com. Now this garbage links to rationalrevolution.net. This one references two standards of unbiased journalism called TruthOut.org and again Salon.com among others. All you Cindy Sheehan fans remember TruthOut.org don't you? Well, it all must be true...

This little gem is part of a larger effort called "This War is About So Much More". Other contents of that same rag are promoting Marxism and Communism. There are lots of other liberal conspiracy theories "exposed" and more crap than you could ever imagine.

Go dig around the links and see for yourself. If they only sold copies on toilet paper, then it might be worth something.

It wasn't the word "revolution" that freaked me out either. It's that people like you who read that crap actually believe it. Your links don't scare me either. It's the Marxist, Communist b.s. you spread that scares me. People like you are dangerous to America. Thanks for the links, but I'll do my own research.

That ain't cryin' either. I just enjoy saving lots of people's time letting them know where you get the b.s you so love to cut and paste. Some of them might actually think it's from an unbiased source. Obviously, they haven't followed any of your other links and checked them out....

They will constantly blog and copy and paste ridiculous things from their own warped sites and truly believe that they have SOMETHING that will crucify Gov. Palin an Sen. McCain, at least if they mention BUSH or ROVE. They do not care for this country...they care ONLY for their own dogma.

Forget the liberal rags like the Wall Street Journal (?????)
The Economist: "Bring back the Real McCain"

and, "Mr McCain used to be a passionate believer in limited government and sound public finances; a man with some distaste for conservative Republicanism and its obsession with reproductive matters. On the stump, though, he has offered big tax cuts for business and the rich that he is unable to pay for, and he is much more polite to the religious right, whom he once called “agents of intolerance”. He has engaged in pretty naked populism, too, for instance in calling for a “gas-tax holiday”. If this is all just a gimmick to keep his party’s right wing happy, it may disappear again. But that is quite a gamble to take."

How about we quote the people who actually work for the republican nominee....
Phil Graham, "We have become a nation of whiners."
"This is a mental recession"

Carly Fiorina, "Sara Palin couldn't run a business. John McCain can't run a business."

Are THOSE sources too liberal for you? After all, there MUST be a liberal bias if you don't like what you are hearing...

meanoldconservatives's picture
Submitted by meanoldconservatives on Thu, 09/18/2008 - 8:45am.

Carly Fiorina, the former Hewlett-Packard CEO turned top John McCain aide, said she doesn't think Sarah Palin is qualified to run a major corporation. For that matter, Fiorina said, McCain, Obama and Biden aren't capable of that kind of job either.

"Well, I don't think John McCain could run a major corporation, I don't think Barack Obama could run a major corporation, I don't think Joe Biden could run a major corporation," Fiorina said.

"It is a fallacy to suggest that the country is like a company. So, of course, to run a business, you have to have a lifetime of experience in business, but that's not what Sarah Palin, John McCain, Joe Biden or Barack Obama are doing."

I don't mind what I'm hearing. I just like to hear THE WHOLE THING rather than having someone pick out the parts they like. Scared to cut and paste the entire quotes??? Nah, that couldn't be it.....

diva's picture
Submitted by diva on Fri, 09/19/2008 - 8:44pm.

If you are paying someone to speak FOR you, they are SUPPOSED to speak badly of the other guys. When you pay someone to speak FOR you, and they say neither YOU or your RUNNING MATE can run a business, THAT'S NOT GOOD.

I think that's why Carlie went BYE BYE.

What do you think?

meanoldconservatives's picture
Submitted by meanoldconservatives on Fri, 09/19/2008 - 10:29pm.

But, since you asked....I think what she said is true. None of the four could probably run a major corporation successfully. Remember, she did say ALL FOUR. Even though YOUR LIE only included our side. She said Barry and "old hair plugs" couldn't either. That's the inconvenient TRUTH of the internet. It's so easy to find the ENTIRE quotes and expose a LIAR.

Tell ya what though. If one of those corporations had an employee event to plan, I'll bet they could use a good "COMMUNITY ORGANIZER". That makes BARRY their guy. Better not invite "old hair plugs" though, unless you lock up your BOOZE and your WOMEN from what I hear.

What do you think????

diva's picture
Submitted by diva on Sat, 09/20/2008 - 7:22pm.

I just want you to be all you can become; like Barrack. I want you to know the difference between a LIE and a LIST.

Here is a lie:

Barrack Obama called Sara Palin a pig.

Here is a hypothetical list:

Suppose Carlie Fiorina says: Barrack is smarter than you. Joe Biden is smarter than you. John McCain is smarter than you. Sara Palin is smarter than you (I told you it was hypothetical.)

Now, given my hypothetical list, if I then say, according to Carlie Fiorina, Joe Biden is smarter than you, is that a lie? Do I have to give the entire list of the many, many people (hypothetically) smarter than you every time I mention one? I'll answer for you: No.

Now, as for the hair plug, hide your women thing.

If you support a candidate that divorced a wife to marry a beauty queen that he refers to as a C word at times, and if that candidate is in his seventh decade of life, you might not bring looks and character into this. It would be like McCain arguing against deregulation.

And they wonder why Barrack does better with college educated women voters.

meanoldconservatives's picture
Submitted by meanoldconservatives on Sun, 09/21/2008 - 12:53am.

Hopefully some of those college educated women can actually spell their candidate's name, unlike you. Even those of us who detest him as much as you detest McCain know it is B-A-R-A-C-K. I'll help you.....just one "r".

Also, Ms. Fiorina's first name is spelled Carly. Real good try though.

Whoops, the first name for our VP candidate is wrong too??? It is Sarah. Good start, just didn't finish it up right.

You did real good on Biden though. It is Joe.

And they wonder why having a college education means less and less...

Mainstream shows links between Bush family and failed S & Ls.

You attack "liberal sources"

Main smacks you in the face with multiple sources including The Wall Street Journal

You reply with rhetoric,"liberal blah blah blah"

USarmy offers fluff with zero references or substance

I quote The Economist and a PAID McCain surrogate

You say "Liar Liar"

I offer the difference between lists and lies.

You say "You hate McCain" and are forced to grade spelling, having every other pitiful argument you've offered blown up like clay pigeons.

I'll gladly be a no spell check Diva as opposed to an old, no logic having, crow eating, mean old conservative. After all, I think it's easier to correct my spelling than to undo Bush links to S & Ls, undo Carly's words (which got her fired), or stop Barack's climb in the polls

meanoldconservatives's picture
Submitted by meanoldconservatives on Sun, 09/21/2008 - 6:31pm.

If you go back and read the thread I never entered the argument. What I did was inform folks who those "unbiased" sources were. Those are two different things. Was I wrong? Nope.

You call what I said rhetoric, who cares what you think of it?

Those multiple sources from Main included Mother Jones and that was the one I commented on. Now there's a source you can depend on for honest analysis.

You quote someone incompletely. You don't include the whole story intentionally, that's what a lie is. Pulling out only the part you want to paste. You obviously don't understand the problem with that. What a shock...

Your own statements made it clear you hate McCain. That's ok if you hate him. I just pointed out the obvious.

You haven't blown up anything except your own mind. Better be careful there. If you could actually spell words correctly to begin with, you wouldn't need a spell checker. That's supposed to be a tool, not a crutch. Know the difference in those??

Actually, you have no idea what my age is. Ain't eaten any crow here and I sure as hell am more logical than your ramblings indicate you are. I guess you could call me mean if it bothers you to have someone give you a spelling lesson. That's got to sting to an educated person like you.....

And, look how much better you did this time. Very good!!

Guess we'll see about the results. Can't bank on those polls you know....

Didn't Carly baby send thousands of jobs to foreign countries also. I don't think anyone should be able to make more than the President. Can you imagine how much money we would all have if these CEOS and Corporate boards didn't make the multi millions that they do. What on earth do they do to earn millions a year and millions in bonuses. Sit behind a desk and let everyone else do the work. The whole system was set up to fail eventually and all those multi millionaires probably have their stashes of gold and silver in other Countries and the rest of us will eat old cake, if available.

As I wake up this morning I hear they are actually talking about reducing CEO'S pay. You can check the pay of thousands of Ceo's below. Hope link works. If not it is on AFLCIO web site.

CEOPAY

Just a couple of overpaid CEO's for you- Year 2006
Countrywide Financial Corp CEO Pay Angelo R. Mozilo $42,994.306 + all the other bonuses...seems I read close to $200 Million. BofA just took over this looser.

AIG..Martin J. Sullivan year 2007 you know the one us taxpayers just bought...$13,960.382 plus bonuses, etc. etc....

Why on earth would any boards of all these companies give these Little God wanta be's millions after they have plunged the company into bankruptcy is beyond me. It is nothing but GREEEEEEEEED to the detriment of everyone in this Country.
Yes, there are thousands of Company's who are good to their employees, run the company as it should be run. The system is broken so even these Good company's have been put in terrible positions because of these Greedy Corrupt CEO'S, and Boards and ever who else, they know who they are.

We see from this mess men/women will never be angels if they are not regulated, that is just the way of human nature and even animals. You have to keep the Rooster in the Chicken Pen to keep all the chickens happy. He makes sure all the hens/young roosters do what they are suppose to do.

I'm surprised the dems didn't do anything to rein in wall street. Maybe its because those same wall street brokers are contributing to Barry's campaign?.

Yes $4 a gallon for gas seems to be the going rate. The same people who are complaining about it, are the same people who pay starbucks $5.99 for a venti-mocha-latte. The same people willing pay $1.25 for an 8oz bottle of "spring" water.

The democrats have had a 1 vote majority (counting Lieberman???) since 2006. 1 vote can't change Iraq policy; can't change the PRESIDENT'S financial policies one bit; can't change much of anything until more Republicans are GONE.

To all who can think with their brains:

Which party has supported deregulation?

Which party set the economic and foreign relation policies that are in place today?

Which party has financial advisors that think we are "whiners" in a "mental recession"? Which party has advisors that say Sara nor John can run a business?

Why are some people not able to say, "We screwed this up?

I think we'll have a real majority come November.
