Due to the ongoing construction on Jimmie Mayfield Boulevard the speed limit has been reduced to 35 miles per hour, Fayetteville Police said Friday.

Jimmie Mayfield Boulevard is currently under construction for the widening of the roadway. This construction is expected to last approximately one year.

For the safety of the workers and citizens traveling through this construction area, a work zone has been established. The posted speed limit in this zone is 35 miles per hour.

This speed limit will be strictly enforced and will be in affect twenty-four hours a day until the construction is complete, police said.

It hurts me --i.e., it affects me greatly-- to see the verb affect used where the noun effect should have been used, as in This speed limit will be in affect...

This is so painful. In the Citizen, no less. Ouch!
