The Fayette County Chamber of Commerce would like to invite interested community members to participate in the upcoming Leadership Fayette class, beginning September 16. Leadership Fayette is a program designed to help develop and educate business and community leaders about important aspects of the Fayette community. Through this interactive program, participants will learn about Fayette County's history, government processes, economic development, law enforcement, judicial system, education system, and health & human services.

Class participants will also take on projects that will help them develop leadership skills, as well as benefit the community.  The six month class meets once a month and will begin September 16th. Class size is limited to 30, and payment of a program fee is required. For more information, please contact the Chamber at 770-461-9983.

That is definately out of my reach and, I believe, out of reach for the ordinary citizen of Fayette County! In my quest to become a more informed and better citizen, and having graduated from the 2007 Fayetteville Citizen's Police Academy class, I would have loved to have learned more about the workings of the County through the Chamber. Maybe some INFORMED person can start a class for us "ordinary" citizens!

The course lasts six months but classes meet once a month. $350 to $450 comes to between $58 and $75 per session. With 20 students in the class, that would produce between $1160 and $1500 in revenue per session. We don't know how long the sessions last and whether textbooks or other materials would be furnished. It would be nice if the promoters of this program were up front about what's involved in that program.
