A Bit of Political Humor because we take this stuff too seriously sometimes.

James Taranto, from Best of the Web on the Wall Street Journals website, gave this interesting tid bit of humor. I thought I'd share it, well, because its funny, and because its true, IMHO.

So I've started this blog for some fun. We all take ourselves way too seriously. So add your own whether its for or against either candidate.

John McCain said:

"Our country will be the better and you will be the happier because nothing brings greater happiness in life than to serve a cause greater than yourself."

Obama said: "Nothing brings greater happiness in life than to serve a cause as great as myself." (or thats what he means.

Our call for "community organizer" jokes brought some amusing ones:

• What's the difference between a "community organizer" and a pit bull? Teeth.

• What's the difference between a "community organizer" and a seeing-eye dog? Even a blind man can see the dog is actually helping someone.

• What's the difference between a "community organizer" and a Chihuahua? The Chuhuahua will eventually shut up.

• What's the difference between a "community organizer" and a puppy? One will grow up to become a loyal servant of mankind.

• What's the difference between a "community organizer" and a shih tzu? Zu.

Left-liberal blogger Ezra Klein, meanwhile, argues that it's racist to make fun of "community organizers." (It seems that Barack Obama, a former "community organizer," is African-American.) Which gives us another idea for a joke:

What's the difference between a "community organizer" and a pit bull?

It's a black thing, you wouldn't understand.

----------------------

These were pretty good so give me a few of yours. I thought a break from the election might give us all a different perspective.

And the other half caucasian, would I be only half a racist if I made fun of community organizers?

Jesus was a community organizer; Pontius Pilate was a governor.

Not that this is unusual. I knew this was supposed to be a humor section, but it sure does sound like you are comparing Obama to Jesus. I mean the man really moves his followers.

Who was it, Chris Matthews who unbiasedly stated that Obama's words gave him a tingle that went from the back of his legs all the way up his spine. I wonder if Jesus made the Disciples feel that way?

And some of you on this board, mock me when I call Obama the boy king, or your Messiah.

If only he could say words like these:

My friends, if you find faults with our country, make it a better one. If you're disappointed with the mistakes of government, join its ranks and work to correct them. Enlist--enlist in our armed forces. Become a teacher. Enter the ministry. Run for public office. Feed a hungry child. Teach an--an illiterate adult to read. Comfort the afflicted. Defend the rights of the oppressed.
Our country will be the better and you will be the happier because nothing brings greater happiness in life than to serve a cause greater than yourself.

Instead, W.W.O.S? (What would Obama Say?)

The church contains in full the kindness and cruelty, the fierce intelligence and the shocking ignorance, the struggles and successes, the love and yes, the bitterness and bias that make up the black experience in America.

And this helps explain, perhaps, my relationship with Reverend Wright. As imperfect as he may be, he has been like family to me. He strengthened my faith, officiated my wedding, and baptized my children. Not once in my conversations with him have I heard him talk about any ethnic group in derogatory terms, or treat whites with whom he interacted with anything but courtesy and respect. He contains within him the contradictions - the good and the bad - of the community that he has served diligently for so many years.

I can no more disown him than I can disown the black community. I can no more disown him than I can my white grandmother - a woman who helped raise me, a woman who sacrificed again and again for me, a woman who loves me as much as she loves anything in this world, but a woman who once confessed her fear of black men who passed by her on the street, and who on more than one occasion has uttered racial or ethnic stereotypes that made me cringe.
These people are a part of me. And they are a part of America, this country that I love.

McCain has no talent in reading a teleprompter like Obama can, but what he can do, is to talk from his heart directly to the American People. Its easy for him, because when he's just talking, he looks to his heart. The heart that has stedfastly continued to consistently look out for others, for his family, and for his Country. It's easy to do this because its real. Obama stutters, hemms and haws when he goes to his ad libbing. Because for him, its just a show, its not real.

All the media talked about, when Sarah spoke, was that someone else wrote her speech. I never heard that a single time that when our Lord and Savior Barack gave a speech. I know thats blasphemy to compare him with mere mortals, but it does seem a bit creepy when I hear so many people talk about this empty suit as if he is some sort of savior. Just read Oprah's statements about him. It's a mystical and religious experience.

Its Only 2 months before your boy king is going to be persecuted by the American People, when he loses this election, because the truth of Obama really proves that he is nothing more than a charlatan (sic) selling mineral oil and snake oil to the illiterates.

Here's AIP founder, Joe Vogler speaking about the Party Palin's husband is a member of and which Palin quit to become a Republican:

"The fires of hell are frozen glaciers compared to my hatred for the American government. And I won't be buried under their damn flag," Vogler continued in the interview, which also touched on his disappointment with the American judicial system. "I'll be buried in Dawson. And when Alaska is an independent nation they can bring my bones home. "And then you get mad. And you say, the hell with them. And you renounce allegiance (to the United States), and you pledge your efforts, your effects, your honor, your life to Alaska."

WWSS (What Would Sarah Say)?

Here's Sarah addressing their convention this year:

Palin addresses AIP convention

Why does Palin hate America? Is that why they are hiding her from the press?

Thanks Jeff, the video you've linked ot, again reflects what a wonderful leader she really is.

She specifically welcomes the Independence Party at their convention, in her capacity as Governor.

She then really goes bizarre, my god, she's a fruitcake, like Obama.

She tells them that having a separate political party in Alaska that supports their constitution is a good thing, because it is competition for the other parties, which she thinks is a good thing. My God! Off with her head!

She shares their vision of upholding the Alaskan constitution.

She says she knows they will agree with her focusing on limiting Government Growth and to expanding individual liberty and opportunity.

So she hopes that their convention is inspired on the hope, trust, and opportunity that was present when the Alaskan Constitution was created.

------------------------

So Jeff, can I assume you've seen the light?
I still can't understand how the ramblings of a man 40 years ago, can be attributed to her, merely because her husband attended their convention 15 years ago. Now if you are suggesting this type of thing was predominently part of the convention, that Palin sat on his hands for 20 years while listening to this rubbish, then I'd agree, Sarah's husband is a scumbag. But is that what the facts actually show, or is this nothing more than your spin.

Because Jeremiah Wright was spewing his vendom from the pulpit for 20 years while your boy king attended there. He had articles written in their monthly magazine that was outragious. He went to Libya and associated with Farrakhan regularly, all while Barack was organizing the community.

Oh, as to that community, it had 125 murders last month. It seems the soldiers in Iraq would rather stay there, then to be put in harms way by returning to Chicago.

Maybe John McCain and call for a surge, except to bring the troops into Chicago. What would Obama say to that? Because if his organizing skills are reflective of the mess that exists in Chicago, my oh my what will that translate to as a President?

Yes Richard I see. Your candidate loves this hate America group that her husband is a member of so much that when she cannot personally attend their convention she sends videos of support and admiration.

But to be fair I'm willing to listen to her explanation. Oh, wait! We can't! The McCain camp didn't vet her and now can't let her be interviewed by the press since they have absolutely no idea what she might say. So now we're in the position of a campaign whose candidate doesn't know the difference between Sunnis and Shias and who thinks Iraq borders Afghanistan being terrified that their number two candidate can't even handle a press conference because we'll see what a blank slate she is.

How inspiring.

However, as the supreme commander of our allied forces in the Bering Straits, I'm sure Putin and Hu Jintao will go easy on her if she becomes President.

Note to S. Palin: Hu is president of China. That's the big country close to Russia.

Vogler said what he said about "hating" America's institutions and its "damn flag" in 1991, not 40 years ago. That was two years before he was murdered in a plastic explosives deal gone bad. A year or so after that both Palins showed up at the Wasilla convention. Todd was a member until regrestering as a Republican in 2002 or so.

The AIP is an active political organization, not a church. Yes, it has broader aims than Vogler's secessionist rants. But he founded the party and is described as a "folk hero" in Alaska. So what attracted Todd Palin to his cause? Do either of the Palins consider him any sort of hero, folk or otherwise? What other weird associations might they have had? What about the pentacostal denomination Sarah belonged to until she disclaimed it after starting to climb the political ladder? The one whose members sometime speak in tongues and believe the end times are nigh? Oh, I'm sorry, we cannot ask such impertinent questions because that would be part of the vicious media smear.

Again the real issue is the double standard and the GOP's cynical ploy to throw this woman onto the national stage and then complain when anyone says boo about her. The Obamas have been under a microscope for going on two years and had their patriotism, morals, personal associations and values questioned nonstop. If Ms. Biden had been a member of a Delaware political party whose founder "hated" American institutions, the rightwing jackals would be howling and I suspect you'd be right there with them.

It is not okay for Bonkers to spew crap about Puerto Ricans or Eskimos or whoever he was insulting yesterday. But it is okay for you to spew idiotic comments designed to insult blacks?

Submitted by MYTMITE on Fri, 09/05/2008 - 9:08pm.

african. Everyone seems to lose sight of this fact except Obama himself when he mentions his white mother and white grandparents. Unless my math fails me, one white mother and one african father would make him as much caucasian as african.

I think Tiger Woods said it better than anyone when people were getting on him for not playing up the fact that he was african american. He recited all the different nationalities in his heritage. I cannot remember them all but at the time he indicated how foolish it would be to try to play any one of them up. I thought it was great that he indicated that all those different parts made him the person he was. I think the day has passed when one drop of blood made you african.

To me Obama is as much causaian as he is african, so in your estimation am I being racist against a black man or a white man?

Submitted by Sick of Fascists on Sat, 09/06/2008 - 7:54am.

No, you were not simply pointing out Obama's heritage. It is well known. You were making a joke about his heritage.
You are not being "half-racist" against Obama, you are being racially insensitive and offensive to african americans and all mixed heritage people by thinking it is funny to ask "am I half racist if I pick on community organizers?" It isn't funny. It is quite similar to the humor that bonkers was displaying that you were so incensed by. You need to re-read what Tiger Woods said. No one is "half" anything. It is an undivided mix of heritage.

In my previous post: Since Obama is half african american and half caucasian: I wanted to say would that make me a half @$$%# racist but I was afraid someone would sic Cal on me.
