All you conservatives, please take it easy

on yourselves. Don't worry about the democrats/liberals/progressives/anyone who is not currently beside themselves with joy over the McCain/Palin ticket. You all are going to hurt yourselves, and each other, with all of the back slapping and wild gyrations that are going on. And at your age too! My goodness, never would I have been able to fathom so much being made of so little. If you are wondering about the awe-struck expressions of those who you deem liberals, it is not in fear, it is in pure wonderment at this phenomenon of exuberance over something with nothing more than the contents of a child's balloon for substance. Karl Rove has lost nothing when it comes to strategies to obfuscate the real issues and get the masses fighting over inanities. The empathetic side of me has to let you in on something: young people see right through the Republican shenanigans this time. This I know, because I don't "hang" with old fools, I keep in contact with the younger generation. The considerable number of them that voted Republican the last time aren't going to this time, and the Republicans do not have a finger on this pulse. They are going to organize and energize this election, and send John into the quite retirement he deserves, and Sarah back to her comfort zone of Alaska. Shameless is the treatment that the Republicans are giving these two Americans, putting them in positions that I really don't believe either one wants, but cannot turn down because it was offered, all to further the Republican "not so hidden anymore" lust for power. It is the passing of the Age of Darkness that is making even the fainest flicker of light alluring.

The whole Obama "change" campaign is making an awful lot out of very little - substance, that is.

Thank God and McCain for a real person like Palin. She has changed the whole dynamic of the campaign before she makes her speech tonite. End result will a 10 point Republican lead by the end of the week and that will not change in November.

McCain President. Palin, first woman VP. Get used to it. Then think about 3 Supreme Court appointments during their first term. Of course we won't get taxed to death and have the economy ruined as Obama would have done. So, happy days the next 4 years. Only blemish will be Congress which will remain under Democratic control for at least 2 years, but Pelosi and Reid will suffer from overexposure - just like Obama has.

According to my calculations, given the amount of pure intellectual effort applied to the Republican choice (none at all), I have arrived at the conclusion that "Tickle Me" Elmo would be getting an equal amount of adoration and gushing support.

I think you hit the nail on the head Carbon! I heard Arlen Specter trying his best to sound supportive today in an NPR spot. When asked about the impact on the courts, and other issues on which McCain is more moderate, Specter sort of said, "I think the American people understand the importance of making a pragmatic choice and a political choice in this situation." In other words, we understand that McCain had to kowtow to the crazy far right, and should just swallow the impact on America??
