Has anyone experienced a Hit and Run in the APD District

I just experienced a Hit and Run. Immediately, I realized that they were not going to stop and I then pursued to get the tag number reaching speeds over 100 mph hoping that a cop would get involved. While in pursuit, I called 911 and advised them of what occured and what my actions were and was advised to not follow but to get the tag number. I was able to catch up to the vehicle and get the tag number. After catching up to the vehicle, I unknowingly entered another district and again called 911. An Officer responded and advised that the accident occured oustide of his district and that he could do anything and gave me the number to APD.

This is when the debacle begins. To make a long story short, APD I unable to do anything, I will have to pay the deductible to get my vehicle fixed, APD will not conduct an investigation, the perp will get away and I am stuck!

From my experiences yesterday and today, I want to let this go but I could not give this advice to my children.

So, I will write to the good Mayor and Chief of the City of Atlanta and hope for at least an investigation without the anticipation of one ever being initiated.

ONE PAYMENT TO GO!!

Any more suggestions?? SOOOO P'''''d Offf......HELP!!!

What APD zone were you in? My strong recommendation is to contact the commander for which ever zone it was and verbally and in writing relate the story. Major Hagan in Zone 5 is especially good at following up on incidents like this.

Suggestions:

A. File a police report with APD. INSIST on doing so.
B. Get the 911 center's tape from your call. HOPEFULLY they actually bothered to run the tag, and HOPEFULLY the return information will be on the tape identifying the owner of the vehicle.
C. Get your damage estimates (2 or 3) and if you really want to *$&% off the other guy, bring him up in small claims court. Granted you'll have to go to downtown Atlanta to deal with all that mess, but you'd at least hold him accountable.

Your mileage may vary, of course.

Good luck and let us know what happens!
