Buckhead Brewery site going Mexican

The long-empty Buckhead Brewery building is finally off the market.

The store will be the new location of La Hacienda, and the owners will keep the current location open as well, a representative of the company said Thursday morning.

The Cuellar family plans to renovate the site inside and out before moving in, including an improvement to the landscaping.

The current La Hacienda, located off Ga. Highway 74 in the Wisdom Point shopping center, has been popular and a family spokesperson credited the success to their customers.

The Buckhead Brewery building has a distinctive cabin style both inside and out, but the renovations will have a new “high class” look, the representative said.

The building, located at the intersection of Ga. Highway 54 East and Lexington Circle, has been vacant since May 2005 when the Buckhead Brewery closed.

La Hacienda hopes to be able to move into the newly-renovated building in about a month.

Just what Fayette County needs ANOTHER Mexican eating establishment. I bet there are more Mexican restaurants in Fayette County per capita than any other Metro County. Pathetic.

No, there are more klunks like you. Why on earth would you care unless it sat empty, which they never do!

because there are already 1,325 Mexican restaurants in Fayette County.

Any hopes of another good micro-brewery are out! Sad

Maybe if they chop the trees and make a even playing field like PTC West, there will be a possibility of a survival.

La Hacienda is the best mexican restaurant south of I-20!

I sure never thought of "Mexican restaurant" when looking at the Buckhead Brewery building, but I'm sure the owners got a good enough deal to consider the concept feasible and also to do renovations. Guess that means no mexican brew-pub? Smiling

I don't know if high-end Mexican will fly.....seems the Don Pablo and On the Border failures here and across the country with that concept is kind of a warning that people aren't expecting high-end mexican dining and aren't willing to pay a little more for nice decor and other gloss. Is there such a thing as "high-end mexican dining" anyway?

They really need to look into the Casa Bonita concept offering cheapo Mexican food but a fantastic show! (i.e. cliff divers, Mariachi bands, sopapilla factory, secret caves, magic shows).

I refuse to pay more than $9.00 for a combo plate of tacos, rellenos and beans.

I was hoping for a different type restaurant at that location. I have eaten at La Haceinda and was not thrilled with the food. Oh well, I don't have to go there.

I liked Buckhead Brewery. Hated to see them leave.

My wife and I really liked Buckhead Brewery. We first discovered them in Tallahassee, and then found that there was a location in the McDonough area. It was really cool when we discovered that a BB was going in at PTC.

They had a great wild salmon dish and, as Floridians, we appreciated their offering of gator tail as an appetizer. They had an IPA that had a grapefruit flavor to it--along with the hops--that I really liked. We enjoyed going to BB once every couple of weeks or so, and sitting outside. I hated to see them close.

But I will certainly give the new La Hacienda a try.

Check out the 80 at their other location. Look at the slime oozing down the back of the store across the rear parking lot.

Have fun at La Hacienda. I'll be eating somewhere safer.

Yuck!

La Hacienda in Fayetteville got a 99 rating on 7/15/08.

La Hacienda in PTC was rated on 11/29/07 and got a 90 rating.

Where do you get the 80 rating?

I like the La Hacienda, the only problem is, the current one is too small.
