More On the Job Training for Obama

Re: Russian's attack on our Ally Georgia.

The first response from Obama was cold and calculating. He jumped upon his rainbow colored Unicorn, grabbed his ferry dust and sprang forth with his "citizens of the World" comments, which I like to think of as "Rodney King Part II", e.g. "Can't we all just get along?"

Here is his first response about an American' Ally being attacked.

"I strongly condemn the outbreak of violence in Georgia, and urge an immediate end to armed conflict. Now is the time for Georgia and Russia to show restraint, and to avoid an escalation to full scale war. Georgia's territorial integrity must be respected. All sides should enter into direct talks on behalf of stability in Georgia, and the United States, the United Nations Security Council, and the international community should fully support a peaceful resolution to this crisis."

Yep, he was being presdential by using those harsh words, like "strongly" and "condemn". ooooh, doesn't that make him sound so POTUS like?

John McCain just thumped the drums of war and decided he would condemn the Russians point blank.

Russia should immediately and unconditionally cease its military operations and withdraw all forces from sovereign Georgian territory. What is most critical now is to avoid further confrontation between Russian and Georgian military forces. The consequences for Euro-Atlantic stability and security are grave.

Today, after some more on the job training for the Messiah, the Chosen one, he was apparently told by some of his advisors, that Georgia wasn't a State that used to have slaves and wasn't being punished for its past wrongs against African Americans. Obama just scratched his halo and looked puzzled. "You mean Georgia is not one of the 57 States of America", he asked. No it wasn't he was told. Apparently, some college kid working as a volunteer, looked up Georgia on the internet, and realized that the war wasn't being fought near Atlanta, but that it was a Country, a Soveriegn State and an American Ally.

Obama quickly said, lets respond one more time. So polls were quickly taken of his staff. But his staff kept saying "No Blood for Oil!" The messiah reminded them that no Americans were involved in this fight. They still didn't know what to do.

Then, one of the young and ambitious staffers, looked up John McCain's comments, modified to sound a bit more "prophetic" and fed it to their worshippers in the Drive by media.

So, for all of you naysayers out there, complaining about Obama's experience and understanding of world events, remember, he has a lot of college kids supporting and advising him at every turn. And if its one thing we know, wet behind the ears college kids know everything there is to know about everything.

Way to act Presidential Barry.

Does it matter to you that the Bush administration is doing exactly what Obama said, invoking the international community and the United Nations to condemn the violence and urge a peaceful resolution and that everything you condemn about Obama’s statement is stuff you just made up?

Does McCain having, “thumped the drums of war” make us seem stronger as his call is and will be totally ignored?

All that stuff about Obama confusing Georgia with our Georgia, the slaves, the halo, the college kid looking it up on the internet, the staff saying "No Blood for Oil!", the staff not knowing what to do and the college kids advising him, all of that… do you just imagine all that stuff yourself or do you have fellow imagineers to help you?

All I can say is McCain should ask his speechwriters to find sources other than Wikipedia, when trying to appear presidential and knowledgeable on geopolitics. It makes him look foolish:

"After the Russian Revolution of 1917, Georgia had a brief period of independence as a Democratic Republic (1918-1921), which was terminated by the Red Army invasion of Georgia. Georgia became part of the Soviet Union in 1922 and regained its independence in 1991. Early post-Soviet years was marked by a civil unrest and economic crisis." (Wikipedia)

vs.

"After a brief period of independence following the Russian revolution, the Red Army forced Georgia to join the Soviet Union in 1922. As the Soviet Union crumbled at the end of the Cold War, Georgia regained its independence in 1991, but its early years were marked by instability, corruption, and economic crises." (McCain's speech today)

If it was Obama who had lifted his speech from Wikipedia, he would be crucified.

As Putin marches through Georgia, President Bush strongly condemns Russia's actions. But Bush adds, "By the way, did you see me with those beach, volley ball babes? Were they hot or what!! They even let me put my arms around them--but I am President so how could they refuse? My god, did Laura ever give me a lecture after I did that. But I told her, I am the decider and I decided that those babes needed my support."

"But as I have said before, I have looked into Putin's soul and I know he is a good man. So he will not kill any more Georgians than absolutely necessary."

"So off to whatever women's competition is next. What a trip!!"

Quite a lesson in being Presidential.

Extremely well written, with very nice touches of irony and sardonic wit, ...or is that sarcastic wit, --I can never remember the difference.

And although I disagree with Jeff's logic, I still loved your rather factual and eloquent response. What I find funny is that now Jeff is trying to use Barack's response to actually mimic Bush's. Thats right, it appears that to make Barack look Presidential, they are trying to tie into Bush's foreign policy. That's pretty funny.

But I'm too tired to argue and just again say, touche'!

Poor old McCain. Was he at least able to get the names of the Russian/Georgian leaders correct? Or was he referring to "President Putin of Germany" again?

Knee-jerk reaction from McCain, reminiscent of Bush - thumping the drums of war before he knows what is taking place. It sounds like Georgia lobbed the first bomb over the fence at South Ossetia and Russia moved in to regain control over South Ossetia, which they have every right to do. Reports trickling out of that region are saying that Georgia is bent on ethnic cleansing in South Ossetia.

You know, this is where sound judgment is critical. Foreign policy is delicate and McCain is still stuck in a "Cold War" mentality. Heaven help us if he ever has his finger on the trigger.

McCain's senior moments (very "Presidential"):

Yeah, Georgia instigated a conflict here, but is that the point and does that really mean anything?

When Israel drove deep into Lebanon in 1982(and again a few years ago) to eradicate terrorists attacking them and planning/executing assasinations, liberals here and abroad screamed about how wrong it was, how Israel was invading a sovereign country with excessive force, waaah. When US bombers shellacked neighborhoods in Serbia into rubble and set Bosnia back into the stone age, all was OK since Clinton was president and the US and NATO can't allow genocide. Wait, yes they can and do all the time, just as long as the genocide victims don't look white.

Peacekeepers, air strikes, rescuing Arafat from capture/death, invading Iraq......the "right" or "wrong" is determined by who is president at the time and what the slant of the person observing it is. Instead of asking "is this in our country's best interests?" the question becomes "well, I'm an X and the President is an X, so good move!" Same with the criticism.
