Obama advocates that.....

oil companies take a reasonable share of their record‐breaking windfall profits and use it to provide direct relief worth $500 for an individual and $1,000 for a married couple.

Can anyone out there define what "reasonable" share of their profits actually means?

In 2005 obama voted for the Bush/Cheny plan which gave the big oil companies a tax break to the tune of 14.5 million dollars.

McCain voted against it.

Yet obama tries to tell us that it's McCain who is "in the pocket of big oil companies".
Now obama thinks these companies owe us money. Huh? They are at least in part profitable because of tax breaks obama voted to give them. Now he wants to flip/flop like the dolphins at Sea World and take some money back? Gee....He wants a larger tax on "windfall profits".

I would like to know what is a "reasonable share" of profits. Should we expect every profitable company to fork over money to the average citizen? How do we decide which companies to punish for being profitable and fulfilling the American capitalist dream?

Since most of our 401k programs have investments in oil companies aren't we getting a return of sorts already?

I'm having real problems with both of them.

As for Obama's win-fall tax thingy; I think JeffC said it best, it will not pass Congress.

I know what you mean. I'm not happy with either one. I hate having to vote for the "lesser of all the evils".

I did read what JeffC wrote as well. Even though we tend to disagree on politics he always has very good arguments. His posts are very informative and enjoyable to read.

I believe that Bill O’Reilly has the answer for you.

I am sorry to say this to you, not wishing to destroy your fantasy world too rapidly, but this post adds absolutely nothing to the general discussion. Keep the faith.

Brat's point is not to add to a discussion but to divert attention from it. She did it again. She wins!

I thought my little tongue-in-cheek comment said much about the fantasy world in which many bloggers live today. The ugly reality hits ME every time I think about the havoc Obama will cause to this country if he is elected! Sorry, no fantasies for me.

Please walk us through this havoc, and contrast it to 100 years of Iraqi occupation.

If there is anyone out there who thinks that a corporation is going to send us all a $1000 check from their company, you simply don't understand how things work!

You have to know that Obama will use his "Jedi" powers to make them want to do it. Smiling

Watch him apply his powers to shut-up Hillary

Funny how all you Romney supporters now have the hots for McCain.

You do know that Democrats are the reason he is the nominee, right? Crossover votes put him there.

He's the choice of Democrats. They are in control now.

Deal with it.

What are you talking about since none of the posts above have anything whatsoever to do with Romney or anyone who liked Romney for the nomination now being big McCain supporters?

Considering the record turnouts people voting in the Dems' primaries, there isn't any evidence of any crossover votes for McCain whatsoever.
Now, there IS evidence of Aww Shucks Huckadumby supporters going for McCain and causing Romney to get upset in a caucus, but Dem crossover? None.
