Fayetteville Police are investigating two purse snatchings that occurred within hours of each other Thursday, one at the Fayette Pavilion and the other at the nearby Uptown Square shopping center.

Police believe the same two men were involved in both incidents, as they left the scene both times in a small black convertible believed to be a BMW, police said.

The first incident occurred in the T-Mobile store at Uptown Square after 11 a.m. as a woman was having her phone worked on, police said. One of the suspects grabbed the woman’s purse and ran outside, police said.

The second incident occurred around 2:15 p.m. when a woman was sitting on a bench outside the Fayette Candle Factory store and one of the suspects grabbed her purse, which was next to her on the bench, police said. The victim grabbed a handle on the purse and was pulled to the ground, causing minor injuries, police said.

Ultimately the woman held onto her purse but lost her cellphone and perhaps a ring that fell on the ground during the incident, police said.

One of the suspects was described as a black male about 6-feet-2-inches tall and the other was approximately 6 feet, police said. Also, one was wearing a black shirt and black jogging-style pants while the other was wearing a gray shirt and gray jogging-style pants, police said.

Fayetteville police were assisted by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office in searching for the perpetrators after both incidents, and though police investigated several vehicles matching the description of the getaway car, they had no luck apprehending the suspects.

Uptown Square is located directly across Ga. Highway 85 from the Pavilion.

FCSD had their mobile command center and "whirly birdy" in the parking lot. FPD was there as well.

I just went over this with Ben this morning.........

and here you are blatantly printing a police report and description of suspects.........

Now a certain demographic is going to be mad because of the description.....not mad at the criminals.......mad at you for the audacity to accurately report it in the paper.

Special note to the naacp(negative always angry complaining people): I know that this whole deal where you pay/convince your criminals to infiltrate peaceful communities has worked in the past .....certainly it has worked in the Atlanta metro area. You have left a trail of destruction from Fulton, to DeKalb, to East Point, to Clayton county ....and now you are trying your luck here.

In the past your ugly threats of high crime have worked successfully to drive off white people. We have already run about as far as we can go. I threw out my moving boxes when I moved here and I filled up that storage space with guns and ammunition. I don't think any of us law abiding citizens feels like giving you another community.

Why don't you try to clean up the ugly mess you made of Clayton?

I like that avatar. It took a few minutes to get it identified - Short S23. Notice some of the terms that the Brits use like "robo pilot" in the video.

There was a modified military variant called the Short Sunderland. During one aerial combat, a Sunderland faced 8 Germany JU 88's. Only 2 JU 88's made it back to base after that encounter.

I love the china clipper and have a print of it's inaugural flight with the golden gate bridge in the background. It was taken in 1935 I believe, as it was being delivered to Pan Am.

I love planes on floats. They are fun to fly if there is a little chop on the water. I have the print of the original hanging over the fireplace. I'll see if I can get it on here.

I love old boats, cars and planes.

Have you lost it completely? Care to tell us about the NAACP sponsoring criminals top drive whites somewhere (is it like driving Miss Daisy, cause I wouldn't ride with Morgan Freeman anytime soon?)

I don't get this one Sky....

Here is the point.

We can't change Atlanta history, but we can determine what happens in Fayette County. What are we doing to make sure that the "change" that happened in clayton-crime-county doesn't happen here?

In the course of seeking bids on the remodle/addition to my home it is disconcerting to me that no less than 4 different builders suggested that I "get out of Fayette County while the getting is good" one went so far as to suggest that if we let clayton style crime happen here our homes won't be worth the paper our deeds are printed on.

Our situation right now is very reminscent of what happened to clayton before it fell into crime. How can we all work together to stop it?

If we do not learn from history we are DOOMED to repeat it.
