2 women accosted at Fayette Pavilion

By: The Citizen

In the span of roughly three hours, two women have had personal items taken from them at stores at the Fayette Pavilion this afternoon.

A woman was injured during the latest incident, happening shortly after 2:30 p.m. near the Yankee Candle store, but the suspect got away with her cell phone and not her purse.

The first incident was reported at the T-Mobile store around 11:30 a.m. and the suspect got away with a beige purse with a gold A on it. No emergency medical treatment was sought for that victim.

Police and sheriff's deputies responded with multiple units searching the area on both occasions. The sheriff's helicopter, Hawk 1, was also involved in the searches.

Two black males were involved with both incidents, though in the first incident the subjects both stayed in the car and in the second incident one of the suspects got out of the car.

A similar description was given of the getaway car in both incidents: a smaller black convertible sports car, perhaps a BMW, with a white drive-out tag dated August 2008.

In the latest incident, one suspect was described as a black male wearing a green shirt and jeans with a thin build about 6'1". The other was a black male with a grey shirt, black pants, a thin mustache, a medium to heavy build and about 5'9".

As Pavillion crime soars, Mayor Steele is more interested in expending his efforts in a commission run-off to oppose a candidate who dares to challenge him. Steele must have been a big supporter of our tender hearted District Attorney.

I suppose by strict definition these women were probably accosted, but I believe more accurately they were "robbed" according to Georgia Law.
Accosted: 1. To approach and speak to boldly or aggressively, as with a demand or request.
2. To solicit for sex.

I won't bother posting the definition of Robbery since somebody already did it below, but I think we all get the point.

Cal/John/Whoever, why can't we just call it what it is in the headline? They were robbed. If the suspects get arrested, they are going to be charged with Robbery, not Accosting.

Way to go. There you go describing the suspects again.

Certain people will now be crying and whining and mad at the paper instead of the criminals who committed the crime.

What is the world coming too?

I drove a minivan today.

Also, I can't afford a BMW or anything that even comes close to looking like one.

You can drive one if you wish!
Just steal one, then snatch a dealer tag--put it on and go!

Maybe even rent one for the day.

Guarantee-----The BMW was as hot as the pancake right off the griddle at IHOP.

I'll make that guarantee to you right here and now, or I'll eat 50 pancakes.

Not really punishment, right?

Why the headline here? These women were not simply accosted, THEY WERE ROBBED FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!!!!!!

Crime is a serious problem at the pavilion. Com-on guys, quit sugar coating it and tell it like it is.

Here is the Georgia law relating to ROBBERY:

16-8-40. Robbery

(a) A person commits the offense of robbery when, with intent to commit theft, he takes property of another from the person or the immediate presence of another:

(1) By use of force;

(2) By intimidation, by the use of threat or coercion, or by placing such person in fear of immediate serious bodily injury to himself or to another; or

(3) By sudden snatching.

(b) A person convicted of the offense of robbery shall be punished by imprisonment for not less than one nor more than 20 years.

(c) Notwithstanding any other provision of this Code section, any person who commits the offense of robbery against a person who is 65 years of age or older shall, upon conviction thereof, be punished by imprisonment for not less than five nor more than 20 years.

Now, doesn't that sound more like what was reported in the article?

It seems that our little slice of heaven has gone to the thugs, and maybe it is time to move!!!!!

Between "CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE" jurisdiction and "COUNTY OF FAYETTE" jurisdiction.

(I recall we had to bring this to Mr. Simmons attention when he was running for sheriff since he obviously didn't know)

The Pavilion lies within the "CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE" jurisdiction. That means, the "CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE" police department is responsible for policing the area, reporting the statistics and (hopefully) arresting the slim and scum that slither south from Fulton and Clayton County in their hoodie hackets and BMW's to do their dirty work.

The "FAYETTE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE" assists when called upon and of course take care of these slimballs when they venture out of the City and into the County.

Also, Sheriff Johnson never said "we don't have any crime." (you must vote democrat!)

Not just the county and not just here or there. They can sit inside of Fayetteville's city limits 24/7 writing traffic tickets if they feel like it.

Two black males mmmmmmm can you say South Riverdale.

Submitted by Jo Anne on Thu, 07/31/2008 - 7:31pm.

It would be fine by me if one of those ladies would have been carrying a weapon. Shoot them. Maybe after a couple of them are 6 feet under they would leave the Fayette Pavilion. Then it would be the FAYETTE Pavilion again not he Riverdale pavilion.

These guys are thugs.

No one is doing anything about it. You can drive by a see people standing out at the entrance waiting on a ride like a bus stop. That is not illegeal but why are they doing it. They are thugs.

GET THE THUGS OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am tired of my family not able to enjoy Fayette County anymore.

Black, White or Green, I don't care. Why can't our families have fun anymore without this happening.

We need someone to take care of the situation.

685 homes are up for foreclosure next Tues in Clayton. Including the home of the ungrateful people who were given a home.

We are in for a long year of crime until all of the criminals get evicted from Clayton and move back to DeKalb.

Speaking of DeKalb County......did anyone read the stats. on the murder rate for young black males in DeKalb. It was printed in yesterdays AJC. I was appalled. Apparently if you are a black male between 18-30 your chances of dying in DeKalb are very good.

But good job and kudos to the naacp for getting "your people" elected in Clayton.......really bravo!!! You made the national news every night this week between the ungrateful free home family, your abomination school system, and your horrendous DA......Good Job!!!

Several weeks ago Mrs. Git wanted to run up to the Pavilion to pick something up that she needed. It was late in the afternoon and dusk would be fast approaching. I insisted that it would keep for another day and that it was getting to risky for her to shop there by herself or with the gitlets any longer. It seems my concerns have been validated to my great disappointment. I miss the Fayette of yesteryear. 15 years ago we left our cars unlocked while shopping Fayetteville.

If it is true that the Fayetteville's Finest have warned their brides in regards to the hazards of the Pavilion then I suppose the rest of us should take heed also. What a sad day it is.....

Mr. Real,

I, too, fear that my wife will be accosted by the less desirables that have infiltrated Fayette County. She no longer goes to the Pavillion without me and and the 44 Magnum that I carry.

We have the best police force in the state, but unfortunately they cannot be in all places at all times. We need to take matters into our own hands to protect our women folk. We are well familiar with the profile of the perpetrators that have invaded Fayetteville.

My next step will be to boycott all stores in the Pavillion until each store owner takes the necessary steps to protect the safety of their patrons. If they want us to spend our money at their stores, then they should hire off-duty police officers to watch over each and every square foot of the parking facilities. It's just amazing to drive through the parking lots these days and see the types that are hanging out just watching to see who will be their next victim of their laziness and cowardice.

The women "folk," gettin accosted in Fayetteville is about to stop when I'm there! Jusrt read the subject to this comment!
I'm a protectin my women folk.
My hands are full of matters right now to protect our women folk so I'm a askin the rest with 44 Magnums to jine me up on this.
I'm assigning 6 feer square to each and every store owner (the leaser not the leasee) to pertect by usin off-duty or on-duty cops---24/7.
The parkin lots air full of peeple these days---all odd lookin kinds they air to. Not lak the 60s, though. Its amazin and awesume.
Most of them air jest watchin to see sumeone grab the next woman folk, sose they kin jump in to I guess!

So, git that 44 Magnum and lets go git em.
We can work out of the pooleece station in the pavilion!

Bulldoze Fayette Pavillion....When you have stores that have a "no prosecution for shoplifting policy" the thieves and thugs come in droves. Not long after that follows the burglaries. But what the heck the boys in Fayetteville and Stan Thomas made a bundle so who are we to complain. Of course, Banks Station makes the Pavillion look like Phipps. It ought to be a huge warning siren that the Village Cafe blew out of there.

I agree. I wish I could let my daughters go to the Fayte Pavilion alone. My oldest just got her drivers license. I am scared to let them out of the neighborhood or even my yard.

Git Real, I like you. I think I just posted a reply against you on the "Gay" thing.

Again, I like you and your opinions on this website. But I guess we all have opinions.

What is a "drive-out tag"?

Submitted by MYTMITE on Thu, 07/31/2008 - 6:29pm.

The white cardboard temporary tag that dealer's give when a car is bought until the buyer can get permanent tag. Wonder if these guys bought the car or stole car and tag.
