Hispanic supermarket
Alejandro Jimenez is a man with a dream.

Along with his wife Mercedes, he has opened South Fulton's first Hispanic supermarket, in Hudson Plaza in Fairburn. No small corner store, Cuatro Caminos Supermarket is a 13,000-square-foot full-service market.

Alejandro and Mercedes moved to Fairburn seven years ago and opened their first small market the following year, a 600-square-foot business on Old Campbellton Road. They stayed at that location for two years, then moved their business to a new location downtown on Smith Road. After four years in that location, they have now moved across the street to Hudson Plaza to the former location of the old Crazy 8's grocery store.

Today, as owners of Cuatro Caminos Supermarket, Alejandro and Mercedes look out onto a much larger store, catering to South Fulton's Hispanic community and to the entire cities of Fairburn, Union City and beyond.

Cuatro Caminos provides a full line of groceries, with about 80 percent of the grocery products shipped directly from Mexico. The store also features fresh-baked pastries, a fresh meat market and a line of fresh produce with items that cater to the Hispanic population and to anyone who wants a taste of world-famous Hispanic cuisine and Hispanic culture. A stroll down the grocery aisles instantly provides the flavor of that Hispanic culture, with products easy to recognize, Latin music playing in the background and the many brightly-colored piñatas overhead.

But Cuatro Caminos Supermarket is more than a grocery store. It will also feature a full-service Mexican restaurant expected to open in the next two months. And for Alejandro and Mercedes, the whole thing is a way to provide the best shopping experience for the Hispanic community and every resident of South Fulton.

"We want to serve the Hispanic people and everyone who wants to shop with us," said Alejandro. "Cuatro Caminos is a great place to discover authentic Mexican products and cuisine. We want everyone to shop here."

Cuatro Caminos Supermarket is open each day from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. The restaurant will be open daily from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m.

Does anybody know where you can still get coke with real sugar in it?

Many years ago I drank RC Premium Draft Coke in a bottle, which was pretty close if not better than the original classic coke, but now you can't find that anymore either.

I heard that Coca Cola makes the original classic coke during passover, sicne Jews are not allowed to consume fructose sugar during that time. May be I'll be hitting a few jewish grocery stores during March...

My only question: Do they sell Mexican Coca-Cola?

I heard that down south (further south) they still use real sugar cane sugar, resulting in the true "Coke Classic" taste.

Maybe it is the sugar, I don't really know, but Coke in Mexico is better than it is here. I'm down there from time to time and it's always nice to drink the Coke.

Now there is a Mexican convenience store in Union City, it's next to Manny's BBQ, and they have Coke in bottles, but it is not the same as the Coke in Mexico. There is a restaurant in that convenience store, though, and the food is as authentic as your gonna find this side of Juarez.

The *classic* version with cocaine in it? Maybe that's the *sugar cane* they are using way down south in Mexico:)

actually, the original coke did not have "cocaine" in it. cocaine is the finished product of a long process. the original had only ingredients derrived from the coca plant. It is not cocaine until it is processed. when coke release "coke classic" they did not use sugar, rather a substitue. thats why its not the same. and yes you can find coke with real sugar in some parts still.

What in the world are you talking about?

Coca leaves have cocaine in them to begin with...it's not something *created* in a process. Cocaine is in coca leaves just like THC is inside marijuana plants. Refining cocaine is about extracting cocaine only out of coca leaves and discarding the rest as well as changing the purity of the cocaine(dilution).

Coca-Cola used raw coca leaves in their drink and then later began extracting/removing the cocaine out of the coca leaves(in New Jersey of all places) before making Coca-Cola.

Coca leaves have cocaine inside them, which is why the US gets so huffy about coca plants being grown anywhere.

NUK is absolutely right. The original Coca-Cola did have cocaine in it.

If fact, many products in the late 1800's and early 1900's deliberately added cocaine until science learned more about it and the government began regulating it. They thought the effects it had was good for a long time.

Is something called nicotine! coca farmers traditionally chew on coca leaves a lot and it's probably not as much to get a tiny bit of cocaine as it is to get the effects of nicotine.
