City Transportation

A proposal to make nine stops, I think it was, on an hour and a half run around the city, using a bus---subsidized by the city, is a loser based only on those facts!
Now I'm sure the proposer, a transportation person already, knows that is ridiculous, but does know politics it appears and knows that throwing out a total, sensible, useful plan out all at once would totally turn off everyone!

His less than a hundred thousand estimate, not including gas, is kind of like government estimates for a project---about one-fourth to one fifth of start-up money!

I am for such a project however, where one can walk a block or two at most to a station pick-up point and catch a bus within 5-20 minutes from daylight until dark. Would of course require several buses and drivers, and a garage and headquarters.

There is no need to start with a bus and nine stops that wouldn't carry 20 people a day! Nor run half the time.

Also, must be able to ride all day for one daily ticket, and be able to buy a week's worth of tickets at a discount.

No need to limit to seniors either, but wheelchair access would be required.

I don't know the cost of operation of such a workable service, but I do know at current rates what people would pay as a whole.
Three dollar metal script (transfer ticket issued if asked for that day only) or, Twelve dollars for a week.
Weekends would actually be cheaper due to families ridership to everywhere, saving gas.
Of course, one stop would be at a connection station to Interstate 85 and beyond transportation.
Anything less would cost three times as much over time, and be a boondoggle!

Of course this won't happen until gas is $10 per gallon and rationed!
Especially for old folks or kids.

If we don't build the ise rank, we could afford this, I think. And a teenage center!

...would make more sense, then we could include the nine stops in PTC and even a future service all the way to Ashley Park or the Park and Ride in Newnan. That way we would link PTC with significant and relevant transfer points. Are we willing to think beyond the village mentality?
