Obama Picks His Vice President!!!!!!!!!!

Richard Hobbs's picture

The Wait For Obama's VP Choice is almost over.

Obama is taking his time over who he is going to pick.

He is going to make sure that this guy or gal is vetted.
No out of wedlock babies for his VP, no sir, so there goes Edwards.
No washed out Republican who is despised by his old party, there goes Hagel.
No drunk driving and then killing scumbag continually elected for 30+ years, there goes Kennedy.

Who is left?
Richardson? Good with the illegal alien voters. (Don't say they don't vote, we know they do.)
Biden? Well they'd have to vet his resume, since he has a tendency to plagiarize others.
Hillary? Oh my God, would she deliberately tank the nomination so she could run in four years? Yes, but to do that, she needs to be off the ticket. So no go on the Hill.

But Obama knows what the first and foremost quality he wants in a V.P..
Its not character, nope. Its not integrity, not necessary. Its not even being a Marxist loving, Racist hugging, and Terrorist befriending candidate, since Barack is all of those and he needs to balance the ticket.

So what is the test that Barack is using to decide on his VP?

Thats easy.

Find the right person, that when people get to know this person, then the average voter will not look at the ticket and wonder why in the hell, the ticket isn't upside down. Because anyone, any air breathing body that Obama picks will have more experience in Government. More experience in Business. More experience in legislation. And more experience in being a leader.

I can't wait to see the T.V. ads. Barack bragging about his VP's experience, his VP's leadership abilities, his VP's private life. This one choice will prove how Barack thinks?

Man, this first decision Barack makes is going to be big, real big. I can hardly wait.

Wait, I just figured out the one choice that might make Obama look good on the top of the ticket. That would be putting Jimmy Carter on the bottom of the ticket.

The "bounce" from the Messiah's rock concert tour hasn't produced much of anything. Oh, I know that some of you on this list and other erstwhile booger eaters are getting your panties up on a bunch, everytime the savior reads from a teleprompter, but God help us, if he has to speak without someone else telling him what to say.

Lets see what I can remember off the cuff.
1.) negotiate without pre-conditions.
2.) 57 States.
3.) The Bomb that was dropped on Pearl Harbor.
4.) "His" banking Committee passed a bill with his leadership. However, he isn't on the banking committee.
5.) He will never ever use Nuclear weapons under any circumstance.
6.) He will take public financing for his campaign.
7.) He will throw his grandmother under the bus, but never his pastor.
8.) His dealing with world leaders for 8-10 years, somewhat presumptuous.
9.) His grandfather saving the Jews in the concentration camps. (That was liberated by the Russians.)
10.) The fact that he thinks the Joint Chiefs of staff are in charge.
11.) He thinks that even with 20/20 hindsight that the surge wasn't the reason that we are seeing the change of events in Iraq, and he wouldn't admit its been helpful at all, and yet, he wants to push for a surge in Afghanistan where the 'real' war is going on.

And the media made such a huge deal over Dan Quayle, when during a camera opt at a school, he reads from a card, that spells the word potato, in the old English version, with an 'e'. And he is labeled an idiot and moron by the press for reading from the card. Yep, there ain't no bias in the press.

Again, Jeffc and Hack, what is it that you are smoking? Because your delusional "Obamaitis" is confusing your reading of the Book of Obama. I can't figure out if you are a fundaobamist, or a Praise be to Barackits. But either disease will have a quick cure come November 5th.

Your boy toy peaked way too early. Now America, (read this, not kool-aid drunk democratic regulars) are going to get to see how damn ignorant this boy is. And I do mean boy. He ain't got the brains to know he ain't got no brains. He can't talk without someone telling him what to do, other than to play basketball. Oh, and thats a great photo-op. Yeah, a black presidential candidate can actually play basketball, go figure.

This is gonna be one helluva year. I just need recommendations of what kind of weapon to buy so as to protect myself once the race riots begin. Jessie, Al, and Farrakhan, are sending out all of the right messages. No Peace if no Obama Presidency. So I need to be ready.

Any ideas on what I should do to protect myself from the peace loving followers of Barack?

Rich, you seem angry this morning. I love it!

Thanks for putting it in bullet points. That might make it easier for the other Obamabots on this site to grasp the transparency of their candidate. I said it yesterday. Obama invited the top 3 MSMs to join him on his conquer the world tour. Of course they rogered up for that. Their hatred of Bush has them fawning all over this kid.

BTW, McCain did invite the media to follow him around, but thet're too busy trying to win it for the hot air machine.

Sorry for the double post (here and my blog, but this stuff is just too funny not to share).

He ventured forth to bring light to the world
(The anointed one's pilgrimage to the Holy Land is a miracle in action - and a blessing to all his faithful followers)
by Gerard Baker

And it came to pass, in the eighth year of the reign of the evil Bush the Younger (The Ignorant), when the whole land from the Arabian desert to the shores of the Great Lakes had been laid barren, that a Child appeared in the wilderness.

The Child was blessed in looks and intellect. Scion of a simple family, offspring of a miraculous union, grandson of a typical white person and an African peasant. And yea, as he grew, the Child walked in the path of righteousness, with only the occasional detour into the odd weed and a little blow.

When he was twelve years old, they found him in the temple in the City of Chicago, arguing the finer points of community organisation with the Prophet Jeremiah and the Elders. And the Elders were astonished at what they heard and said among themselves: “Verily, who is this Child that he opens our hearts and minds to the audacity of hope?”

In the great Battles of Caucus and Primary he smote the conniving Hillary, wife of the deposed King Bill the Priapic and their barbarian hordes of Working Class Whites.

And so it was, in the fullness of time, before the harvest month of the appointed year, the Child ventured forth - for the first time - to bring the light unto all the world.

He travelled fleet of foot and light of camel, with a small retinue that consisted only of his loyal disciples from the tribe of the Media. He ventured first to the land of the Hindu Kush, where the
Taleban had harboured the viper of al-Qaeda in their bosom, raining terror on all the world.

And the Child spake and the tribes of Nato immediately loosed the Caveats that had previously bound them. And in the great battle that ensued the forces of the light were triumphant. For as long as the Child stood with his arms raised aloft, the enemy suffered great blows and the threat of terror was no more.

From there he went forth to Mesopotamia where he was received by the great ruler al-Maliki, and al-Maliki spake unto him and blessed his Sixteen Month Troop Withdrawal Plan even as the imperial warrior Petraeus tried to destroy it.

And lo, in Mesopotamia, a miracle occurred. Even though the Great Surge of Armour that the evil Bush had ordered had been a terrible mistake, a waste of vital military resources and doomed to end in disaster, the Child's very presence suddenly brought forth a great victory for the forces of the light.

And the Persians, who saw all this and were greatly fearful, longed to speak with the Child and saw that the Child was the bringer of peace. At the mention of his name they quickly laid aside their intrigues and beat their uranium swords into civil nuclear energy ploughshares.

From there the Child went up to the city of Jerusalem, and entered through the gate seated on an ass. The crowds of network anchors who had followed him from afar cheered “Hosanna” and waved great palm fronds and strewed them at his feet.

In Jerusalem and in surrounding Palestine, the Child spake to the Hebrews and the Arabs, as the Scripture had foretold. And in an instant, the lion lay down with the lamb, and the Israelites and Ishmaelites ended their long enmity and lived for ever after in peace.

As word spread throughout the land about the Child's wondrous works, peoples from all over flocked to hear him; Hittites and Abbasids; Obamacons and McCainiacs; Cameroonians and Blairites.

And they told of strange and wondrous things that greeted the news of the Child's journey. Around the world, global temperatures began to decline, and the ocean levels fell and the great warming was over.
The Great Prophet Algore of Nobel and Oscar, who many had believed was the anointed one, smiled and told his followers that the Child was the one generations had been waiting for.

And there were other wonderful signs. In the city of the Street at the Wall, spreads on interbank interest rates dropped like manna from Heaven and rates on credit default swaps fell to the ground as dead birds from the almond tree, and the people who had lived in foreclosure were able to borrow again.

Black gold gushed from the ground at prices well below $140 per barrel. In hospitals across the land the sick were cured even though they were uninsured. And all because the Child had pronounced it.
And this is the testimony of one who speaks the truth and bears witness to the truth so that you might believe. And he knows it is the truth for he saw it all on CNN and the BBC and in the pages of The New York Times.

Then the Child ventured forth from Israel and Palestine and stepped onto the shores of the Old Continent. In the land of Queen Angela of Merkel, vast multitudes gathered to hear his voice, and he preached to them at length.

But when he had finished speaking his disciples told him the crowd was hungry, for they had had nothing to eat all the hours they had waited for him.

And so the Child told his disciples to fetch some food but all they had was five loaves and a couple of frankfurters. So he took the bread and the frankfurters and blessed them and told his disciples to feed the multitudes. And when all had eaten their fill, the scraps filled twelve baskets.

Thence he travelled west to Mount Sarkozy. Even the beauteous Princess Carla of the tribe of the Bruni was struck by awe and she was great in love with the Child, but he was tempted not.
On the Seventh Day he walked across the Channel of the Angles to the ancient land of the hooligans. There he was welcomed with open arms by the once great prophet Blair and his successor, Gordon the Leper, and his successor, David the Golden One.

And suddenly, with the men appeared the archangel Gabriel and the whole host of the heavenly choir, ranks of cherubim and seraphim, all praising God and singing: “Yes, We Can.”

if you want to get into the flip flop thing here's the latest list a friend sent me:

John McCain -
National Security Policy
1. McCain thought Bush's warrantless wiretap program circumvented the law; now he believes the opposite.
2. McCain insisted that everyone, even "terrible killers," "the worst kind of scum of humanity," and detainees at Guantanamo Bay, "deserve to have some adjudication of their cases," even if that means "releasing some of them." McCain now believes the opposite.
3. He opposed indefinite detention of terrorist suspects. When the Supreme Court reached the same conclusion, he called it "one of the worst decisions in the history of this country."
4. In February, McCain reversed course on prohibiting waterboarding.
5. McCain favored closing the detention facility at Guantanamo Bay before he was against it.
6. When Barack Obama talked about going after terrorists in Pakistani mountains with Predators, McCain criticized him for it. He's since come to the opposite conclusion.
Foreign Policy
7. McCain was for kicking Russia out of the G8 before he was against it.
8. McCain supported moving "toward normalization of relations" with Cuba. Now he believes the opposite.
9. McCain believed the United States should engage in diplomacy with Hamas. Now he believes the opposite.
10. McCain believed the United States should engage in diplomacy with Syria. Now he believes the opposite.
11. McCain is both for and against a "rogue state rollback" as a focus of his foreign policy vision.
12. McCain used to champion the Law of the Sea convention, even volunteering to testify on the treaty's behalf before a Senate committee. Now he opposes it.
13. McCain was against divestment from South Africa before he was for it.
Military Policy
14. McCain recently claimed that he was the "greatest critic" of Rumsfeld's failed Iraq policy. In December 2003, McCain praised the same strategy as "a mission accomplished." In March 2004, he said, "I'm confident we're on the right course." In December 2005, he said, "Overall, I think a year from now, we will have made a fair amount of progress if we stay the course."
15. McCain has changed his mind about a long-term U.S. military presence in Iraq on multiple occasions, concluding, on multiple occasions, that a Korea-like presence is both a good idea and a bad idea.
16. McCain said before the war in Iraq, "We will win this conflict. We will win it easily." Four years later, McCain said he knew all along that the war in Iraq war was "probably going to be long and hard and tough."
17. McCain has repeatedly said it's a dangerous mistake to tell the "enemy" when U.S. troops would be out of Iraq. In May, McCain announced that most American troops would be home from Iraq by 2013.
18. McCain was against expanding the GI Bill before he was for it.
Domestic Policy
19. McCain defended "privatizing" Social Security. Now he says he's against privatization (though he actually still supports it.)
20. McCain wanted to change the Republican Party platform to protect abortion rights in cases of rape and incest. Now he doesn't.
21. McCain supported storing spent nuclear fuel at Yucca Mountain in Nevada. Now he believes the opposite.
22. He argued that the NRA should not have a role in the Republican Party's policy making. Now he believes the opposite.
23. In 1998, he championed raising cigarette taxes to fund programs to cut underage smoking, insisting that it would prevent illnesses and provide resources for public health programs. Now, McCain opposes a $0.61-per-pack tax increase, won't commit to supporting a regulation bill he's co-sponsoring, and has hired Philip Morris' former lobbyist as his senior campaign adviser.
24. McCain is both for and against earmarks for Arizona.
25. McCain's first mortgage plan was premised on the notion that homeowners facing foreclosure shouldn't be "rewarded" for acting "irresponsibly." His second mortgage plan took largely the opposite position.
26. McCain went from saying gay marriage should be allowed, to saying gay marriage shouldn't be allowed.
27. McCain opposed a holiday to honor Martin Luther King Jr. before he supported it.
28. McCain was anti-ethanol. Now he's pro-ethanol.
29. McCain was both for and against state promotion of the Confederate flag.
30. In 2005, McCain endorsed intelligent design creationism, a year later he said the opposite, and a few months after that, he was both for and against creationism at the same time.
Economic Policy
31. McCain was against Bush's tax cuts for the very wealthy before he was for them.
32. John McCain initially argued that economics is not an area of expertise for him, saying, "I'm going to be honest: I know a lot less about economics than I do about military and foreign policy issues; I still need to be educated," and "The issue of economics is not something I've understood as well as I should." He now falsely denies ever having made these remarks and insists that he has a "very strong" understanding of economics.
33. McCain vowed, if elected, to balance the federal budget by the end of his first term. Soon after, he decided he would no longer even try to reach that goal. And soon after that, McCain abandoned his second position and went back to his first.
34. McCain said in 2005 that he opposed the tax cuts because they were "too tilted to the wealthy." By 2007, he denied ever having said this, and falsely argued that he opposed the cuts because of increased government spending.
35. McCain thought the estate tax was perfectly fair. Now he believes the opposite.
36. McCain pledged in February 2008 that he would not, under any circumstances, raise taxes. Specifically, McCain was asked if he is a "'read my lips' candidate, no new taxes, no matter what?" referring to George H.W. Bush's 1988 pledge. "No new taxes," McCain responded. Two weeks later, McCain said, "I'm not making a 'read my lips' statement, in that I will not raise taxes."
37. McCain has changed his entire economic worldview on multiple occasions.
38. McCain believes Americans are both better and worse off economically than they were before Bush took office.
Energy Policy
39. McCain supported the moratorium on coastal drilling; now he's against it.
40. McCain recently announced his strong opposition to a windfall tax on oil company profits. Three weeks earlier, he was perfectly comfortable with the idea.
41. McCain endorsed a cap-and-trade policy with a mandatory emissions cap. In mid-June, McCain announced he wants the caps to be voluntary.
42. McCain explained his belief that a temporary suspension of the federal gas tax would provide an immediate economic stimulus. Shortly thereafter, he argued the exact opposite.
43. McCain supported the Lieberman/Warner legislation to combat global warming. Now he doesn't.
Immigration Policy
44. McCain was a co-sponsor of the DREAM Act, which would grant legal status to illegal immigrants' kids who graduate from high school. Now he's against it.
45. On immigration policy in general, McCain announced in February 2008 that he would vote against his own bill.
46. In April, McCain promised voters that he would secure the borders "before proceeding to other reform measures." Two months later, he abandoned his public pledge, pretended that he'd never made the promise in the first place, and vowed that a comprehensive immigration reform policy has always been, and would always be, his "top priority."
Judicial Policy and the Rule of Law
47. McCain said he would "not impose a litmus test on any nominee." He used to promise the opposite.
48. McCain believes the telecoms should be forced to explain their role in the administration's warrantless surveillance program as a condition for retroactive immunity. He used to believe the opposite.
49. McCain went from saying he would not support repeal of Roe v. Wade to saying the exact opposite.
Campaign, Ethics, and Lobbying Reform
50. McCain supported his own lobbying-reform legislation from 1997. Now he doesn't.
51. In 2006, McCain sponsored legislation to require grassroots lobbying coalitions to reveal their financial donors. In 2007, after receiving "feedback" on the proposal, McCain told far-right activist groups that he opposes his own measure.
52. McCain supported a campaign-finance bill, which bore his name, on strengthening the public-financing system. In June 2007, he abandoned his own legislation.
Politics and Associations
53. McCain wanted political support from radical televangelist John Hagee. Now he doesn't.
54. McCain wanted political support from radical televangelist Rod Parsley. Now he doesn't.
55. McCain says he considered and did not consider joining John Kerry's Democratic ticket in 2004.
56. McCain is both for and against attacking Barack Obama over his former pastor at his former church.
57. McCain criticized TV preacher Jerry Falwell as "an agent of intolerance" in 2002, but then decided to cozy up to the man who said Americans "deserved" the 9/11 attacks.
58. In 2000, McCain accused Texas businessmen Sam and Charles Wyly of being corrupt, spending "dirty money" to help finance Bush's presidential campaign. McCain not only filed a complaint against the Wylys for allegedly violating campaign finance law, he also lashed out at them publicly. In April, McCain reached out to the Wylys for support.
59. McCain was against presidential candidates campaigning at Bob Jones University before he was for it.
60. McCain decided in 2000 that he didn't want anything to do with former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, believing he "would taint the image of the 'Straight Talk Express.'" Kissinger is now the honorary co-chair for his presidential campaign in New York.
61. McCain believed powerful right-wing activist/lobbyist Grover Norquist was "corrupt, a shill for dictators, and (with just a dose of sarcasm) Jack Abramoff's gay lover." McCain now considers Norquist a key political ally.

You're beginning to sound like a grumpy old man. It must suck to be you right now. You have to watch Germans, Brits, Japanese, Canadians, Americans of all shapes and sizes, liberals, many conservatives, and even independents actually SUPPORT a candidate. I think that is a wonderful part of Americanism; actually supporting a political candidate versus attempting to tear down opponents with unsupportable (terrorist befriending, racist hugging, Marxist loving) claims.

When I grow up, Richard, I hope I'm not the bitter old guy in the corner sucking on a cigar with a disgruntled scowl on his face, lashing out at the "popular" ones around him.

unsupportable (terrorist befriending, racist hugging, Marxist loving) claims.

Only someone completely drunk and disoriented off the intoxication of Obama's celebrity status would say those claims are unsupportable.

Terrorist Befriending

William Ayers was clearly more than someone Obama just ran into in the neighborhood on occasion. In the mid-1990s, when Obama was making his first run for the Illinois Senate, Ayers had Obama to his home to introduce him to others. Everyone knows they served on the board of the Woods Fund of Chicago, but that's not all. Ayers founded and Obama was the first chairman of the board of the Annenberg Challenge.

Racist Hugging

Reverend Jeremiah Wright....need anyone say more. Of course people will dismiss this because he is a man of the cloth. Plus, everyone knows that White people are the only ones that can be racist.

Marxist Loving

Through Frank Marshall Davis, Obama had an admitted relationship with someone who was publicly identified as a member of the Communist Party USA (CPUSA). The record shows that Obama was in Hawaii from 1971-1979, where, at some point in time, he developed a close relationship, almost like a son, with Davis, listening to his "poetry" and getting advice on his career path. But Obama, in his book, Dreams From My Father, refers to him repeatedly as just "Frank."

Wright is a racist: Why did he have white members in his church? Are there black and Jewish klanners?

What is your source on Frank Marshall Davis and Barack's love affair?

Good luck laying down in front of the Obama train. So far, folks haven't faired well fighting its momentum.

Now you probably don’t know that the Annenberg Challenge (a public/private partnership dedicated to improving education and getting children to graduate on time) is housed at the Annenberg Institute for School Reform.

So far, so good right? But wait! Where exactly is the Annenberg Institute for School Reform? Here it comes…. it’s at Brown University! A well known LIBERAL arts school.

The last time this crescendo of Obama fear came to a peak, it was when Barack's winning the Democratic nomination was inevitable. I sense that many see his election, given McCain's objectively misguided and disjointed campaign, is Barack's to lose. Conservatives and liberal politicos are saying this. It isn't partisan hackery. McCain cannot stay on a coherent message. He even has a hard time finding people to listen to what he has to say. That is because most of us recognize that he is selling the same product in a not so new wrapper. Anyhow, I'll let the "You're voting for Obama because he's black.... because he speaks nice words.... because you hate Bush..... because you are blind....because you worship him" continue. I'm sure all my candidate cares about is people are voting for him. The "why", especially as his political enemies see it, is not very important.

You're going to have to come at us with something better than that.

Could it be that "no one is listening to McCain" is due to the fact that he doesn't have three of the largest MSM types on his campaign tour?

I never stated that you were voting for Obama because he is black. Most off us could give a rat's buttocks if he's black, white, yellow, polka dotted or striped. I would just assume vote for Colin Powell or Condi. Empty suit says it all.

Obama Fear? OK, I'll play your little game. Yes, I fear that a man with extremely little experience, a shady past and no foreign policy might be the guy to raise my taxes and talk us into oblivion.

And, yes. I was happy when Mrs. Clinton lost the primary. One less crook/demon seed.

My reference to the Annenberg Challenge was not the organization itself. It was so that one can see that Obama and Ayers are more than just acquaintances as he would have you believe.

Just because a group does good in a community doesn't mean that its members or organizers are above reproach. I recall just a month or so ago seeing a special on Chicago gangs and their history. The "Vicelords" were a gang that actually recieved a grant from the Rockefeller Foundation. At the time they were involved in some good community outreach programs in inner city Chicago. All the while in the background they were still violent criminals as narcotics were introduced to some Chicago neighborhoods, along with a rapid increase in crimes involving intimidation, extortion, and murders of business owners who refused to pay protection money.

Come on JeffC, I expected more of you. You're making this too easy!

You cite the Annenberg Challenge and I show how easy it is to negate your argument.

Get Richard to form a 527 to denounce Obama because of his connection to the Annenberg Challenge. I’ll have Obama respond. I’m sure it’ll have about the same effect as the Vicelords revelation did on the (now discredited!) Rockefeller Foundation.

It’ll be sweet!

you can't come up with any facts to counter my argument...so you dismiss it as having "no force".

Typical Liberal play...whatever you don't like, you dismiss as trivial.

JeffC's picture
Submitted by JeffC on Thu, 07/24/2008 - 6:40pm.

I have no intention of countering your argument. My position is not that you are technically wrong just that, even if you are correct, it does not matter in this case. It is not a vote changing argument that Obama was on the board of directors of a program to improve schools with Ayers.

I’ve read on this blog comments like yours about “typical liberal responses” and others moaning that the three networks followed Obama to Europe and the MSM treats Obama better than McCain, etc. Realistically, I simply don’t care. This is a case of if you want a friend in politics get a dog. There’s not going to be a “fact” that is going to be decided as “true” and therefore McCain wins the election. We both know that’s not how it works.

You’re guilt by association position is a good one for your side because it works against Obama more than McCain (with the Hagee thing). Suits me. On the other hand, Obama misspeaking about 57 states doesn’t hurt him a bit because he simply misspoke while McCain talking about the Iraq/Pakistan border or talking about Czechoslovakia in the present tense raises doubts about whether he’s senile. Its not fair and I couldn’t care less.

I’m just discussing the politics of the situation here and right now McCain actions baffle me. I’ll give you an example; yesterday McCain couldn’t go to his offshore drilling rig because of the hurricane so he goes to a local market and gets filmed with luncheon meat. He’s holding a bag of baloney on TV! What are they thinking? Today, to counter Obama in Germany he goes to a German restaurant. The comparison is pathetic. Granted that’s just my opinion but if I was McCain’s people, while Obama was in Germany I’d’ve had McCain at the Reagan library. The national news tonight would have covered it and every channel would have had McCain followed by a “tear down this wall” clip associating McCain with Reagan.

But as far as “typical liberal”, the “MSN is being mean to him”, etc. my position is well tough. The McCain people have to deal with it. Talk radio is 100% behind McCain and against Obama. So be it. We’ll either beat them or we’ll lose but I’m not going to whine about it either way. I expect Obama’s people to be able to deal with it. I expect them to be ready to counter the 527’s coming up which will bring up Ayers and Rev. Wright.

You don’t want me to sugar-coat it do you? I try to make my arguments interesting and we both know we’re not going to change each others minds here. It’s more fun this way and you have to admit that I'm not trying to hide my position or obscure it. It would be way duller if I agreed with you simply because you got one fact right.

As I said in a blog, the only surge that occurred in Iraq was the half-million Iraqi army we stood behind and made them shoot at other Iraqis! Many went home and didn't come back the next day.

An occasional bombing and strafing run also helped.
As clearing out the capital of Afghanistan didn't do anything significant, the clearing out of Baghdad won't do anything significant in the long run.

It is like clearing out south Atlanta and forgetting about the rest of the country.

You have to have a good sense of humor, or a strong stomach, to handle many of these blogs.

As for some others on this site, well...If you're going to be dumb, you gotta be tough.

Here is the question that was asked:
Q: "If you had to do it over again, knowing what you know now, would you support the surge:"

Here's the Obama response I refer to. No kidding!

Obama: "No, because keep in mind that question, you wouldn't ... but keep in mind that kind of hypothetical is very difficult to know hindsight is 20-20 ... later ... but I think that what I'm absolutely convinced of is that at that time we had to change the political debate because the view of the Bush administration at that time was one that I just disagreed with."

Now that's eloquence! Bush-isms anyone?

I'm not voting for him, but I understood what he said even though his bumbling was about as bad as George or John.

Remember: "How do we know that the position we are now in wouldn't have occurred anyway without the surge?" He did say that!

Anyway, he could have said: we have accomplished little with the "surge" won't be much different when we get out whether there had been a surge or not--he didn't for obvious reasons.

Oh I see the double standard now. Having whites in his church keeps Wright from being a racist? Gee does that mean since priests have alterboys in their church they can't be pedophiles? Why doesn't the fact that someone having black friends or adopting black children preclude them from being racist?

Why would white people go to a church that gave a "we hate whites" message? You are trying to say that Barack accepted such a message by sitting in the Trinity pews. If that is the argument you are making, it also follows that the white folks sitting next to him were also accepting a "hate white folks message." What I am contending is that Barack did not embrace a racist message or person. I contend that Barack went to a church which had a pastor who said stoopid things on tape and before the media, but that the church's message was by no means racist or hate-filled. I've posted Editorials of white theologians who attested to as much. So, again, why would whites embrace a hate whites message?

Why would white people go to a church that gave a "we hate whites" message?

You mean you have never come across a white person who was vocally ashamed of being born "white?" Since those people who feel that deep shame and guilt are only found in the very liberal political spectrum, I would have imagined you would have come across a few Smiling

I would have figured you would gave least encountered some who would have attempted pandering and expressed to you how they really understood the "struggles of the black man in America."

You have gone over the edge with Obama and Wright.

You know as well as I do that all black churches for the most part have a few white members, just as the opposite occurs.

They have their own reasons for being there, diverse as they may be.
Some are even legitimate reasons.

So, no matter what Wright preached, they would come back.

As to what is on tape and what is preached in Church being something different, you now sound like those caught red-handed at the scene of a crime and start with the scores of excuses to get out of it---ridiculous as some may be.

I am a moderate who votes both ways....this time McCain. I hate some of the things McCain does and says, but I'll vote for who I see as my only choice this time.

or maybe since they were "christians" they just couldn't bring themselves to admit it.

Yes what I'm saying is that Obama embraced a racist person. Spin it like you want, but the racist things that Wright said , he still said. Obama knew his views were such, when early in 2007 he disinvited Wright to his Candidacy announcement.

Your asking a question that only those people can answer.

If you believe the being elected President of the United States and Leader of the Free World is a popularity contest. It is naïve people like you and Barack who just want America to be “liked”.

I would much rather have a leader who understands that leadership is not about being liked. It is about being respected. It is about having the moral courage to take an unpopular stand, when you know it is the right thing to do. Instead of sticking your political wind digit in the air before you make a decision that merely panders to the mindless whims of the masses.

Your assertion that Barack will balance the budget is pure fantasy. Clinton took credit for balancing it during better economic times. Fact is, during the nineties, whoever was President would have easily achieved a balanced budget due to a massive increase in tax revenues set in place by previous administrations and a strong economy.

Prediction: Barack, if elected, will never even come close to achieving a balanced budget. We are years away from a significant upturn. And I’m sure you will be quick to blame it on Bush. But the truth of the matter is, the current President can take little credit or blame for current national economic successes or failures. The economy does not react that fast. Presidential economic policies are but one factor in the numerous variables that influence our economy.

Witness: the mortgage crisis. But, I’m sure you will find some way to try and blame that one on Bush, too. You are too predictable.

Further, do you believe many of the nations who currently rejoice in Barack’s candidancy do it because it would be good for the USA? Sadly, the opposite is true. Some other countries rejoice in it because they know that Obama as President will capitulate. That America will become a lesser nation. Obama will give in to our adversaries just like Neville Chamberlain did to Hitler. He will fail to protect us. And naïve folks like you will never see it coming. You are blind to the real threat. But you are always the first to scream and point the finger of blame when it happens. Again, so predictable.

Richard has wisely embraced the reality of the situation while you live in a completely blind rhapsodic fantasy.

Mark my words. If Barack is elected, due to his remarkable naivete, his Presidency will rival Cater’s in its indecisiveness and will accomplish next to nothing. He will be paralyzed by indecision. That is the best we realists can hope for. At the worst, he will do this even nation greater damage than the blindly ambitious (yet purposeless) Bill Clinton.

Barack is yet another blindly ambitious politician who has no purpose (other than to gain power). His “change” message is timely, but unfortunately completely empty, because he has done absolutely nothing in his life to prove he is capable of delivering on the promise. Most sadly, many Americans, including yourself, won’t come to this realization until after he has been elected. Then, it will be too late.

.....the economy before. They are usually Republicans explaining why tax cuts did not balance budgets for President Reagan, Bush 41, or Bush 43. I always wonder; if Republicans think the President doesn't effect the budget, why do republican candidates have economic plans at all? What a waste of effort to offer a plan that doesn't effect much anyway.

As for your prediction:

"Prediction: Barack, if elected, will never even come close to achieving a balanced budget. We are years away from a significant upturn. And I’m sure you will be quick to blame it on Bush. But the truth of the matter is, the current President can take little credit or blame for current national economic successes or failures. The economy does not react that fast. Presidential economic policies are but one factor in the numerous variables that influence our economy."

I've learned something about the "predictions" of conservatives. Whether the prediction be that "Rev. Wright would sink Obama's campaign" or "war in Iraq would be swift" or "we will see $20 barrels of oil" or "we will be greeted as liberators," these predictions are most useful when repairing the flapper valve of your commode. When it's time to test toilet function, you have ready made refuse, conveniently packaged and ready to flush. Thanks. I have a leaky valve as we speak.

It is you that needs to get out more often. This nation is still respected. We are still the leaders of the Free World. We are still the lone World Superpower. America is respected. And feared. And loved. It is called "peace through strength". Witness the multitudes of immigrants that still flock to our shores. Despite your shameful and cowardly "blame America first" rhetoric.

The real laugh here is you, Jeff. I've read your postings. You constantly cite liberally biased newspaper stories as fact. What a laugh. And then you lambast Richard for doing the same? Sorry, but you don't get to have it both ways. Typical liberal tactic. Dismiss anything that doesn't agree with your limited liberal point of view. How closed-minded. The real laugh here is you, Jeff. LOL

Main stream media bias: Example, the NY Times recently published over 90 stories covering Obama. Positive stories outnumbered negative three to one. By contrast, during the same time period, the NY Times published only 50 plus stories on John McCain. Negative stories outnumbered positive stories three to one. These are indisputable facts. It is no wonder the American public does not trust the main stream media.

Keep jousting at windmill citing your liberal main stream media nonsense, Jeff. The American public is getting wise to the liberal bent of the main stream media. That's why Fox is number 1 in the ratings. And the sources you cite can’t even come close. And Obama had the temerity to suggest that Soldiers watching Fox overseas was mandated by our current Commander in Chief? I got a big laugh over that one.

Obama is afraid of Fox. So far, he has refused to appear in person and be interviewed for fear of losing support from Move On. Now there’s a true leader. LOL. By contrast, McCain is not afraid to take questions from anyone.

How about a real foreign policy debate after Barack returns from his tour de farce. To date Obama has declined to debate McCain. Now that’s real courage. Nope, just an empty suit.

Just keep repeating the new liberal mantra, “Change, Change, Change, Jeff. Because after four years of an Obama presidency (which is all it will last if he is elected), “change” is all that will be left in your pockets.

with your nonsensical tag line at the bottom. But I'll leave kittens, flood victims, and soldiers out of this.

"Why Germany? Why Europe at all? The campaign is here."

It's a shame one can't have their cake and eat it too.

I recall an old experienced fellow urging his young, inexperienced competition to get out there and see the world; learn some things. As Mr. McCain conducted his grocery store press conference yesterday, he must have been kicking himself.

"He stated that trade needs to be free and fair. Isn't this the same guy that opposed the North American FREE Trade Agreement (NAFTA)?

What was that old show about the dolphin? That's right...Flipper."

NOTA, to a binary, zeros and ones argument like yours, equating NAFTA support to "free and fair trade" might make sense. However, what if someone does not think NAFTA is free AND fair? Then, they would not support NAFTA even though they sought free and fair trade. Barack DOES tend to speak over the heads of many conservatives, and I apologize for that.

Yep, binary. I tend to use logic and fact to support my decisions, discussions and arguments. I rarely try to skirt the issues and blame shift by plucking one word out of a sentence. It's a good Liberal tactic that just does not have an effect on me. Here's an example:

So, you're saying that Obama plagerized McCain on the Free and Fair Trade statement?

At least John Kerry's flip flops occurred over his entire career as a senator. Does Obama's 142 days count as a career? If so, I should have retired many moons ago.

Keep in mind that David Hasselhoff could also pull 100,000 Germans in for a free concert.

BTW, my blog name, NOTA 08, is short for None Of The Above in '08. I have issues with both of the candidates. Economy, immigration, the war(s), taxes ad nauseum. Nevertheless, let me make a few points.

1) As a Barack Obama supporter, I urge you to please, please, please, follow your instincts and vote for Bob Barr.

2) It is wonderful to have an American leader received with the kind of respect that greeted Obama during his trip.

3) It is great to have an American leader who is not afraid to speak to a crowd of Europeans as Obama did today in Berlin. If my memory is correct, when Bush goes overseas he only speaks to American troops and their families.

4) Obama's three-point shot was sooooo cool.

Don't be a fool and fake optimism over stupid stuff.

People deserve the facts.

I see far too much lying optimism by far too many people, who eliminate all the bad facts and try to fool everyone. This doesn't ever change the outcome.

Iraq is a good example:

Everything has succeeded by the surge...hooray.

Or: How is the oil pumping going in Iraq..where is the money from it?
How many citizens have water and electricity now?
How are the schools doing...all of them not 10?
How many are working at jobs in Iraq? (20%, last I heard). Who pays them? We do!

All I hear from Obama is "I'm going to do this or I'm going to do that." What has he done with his 142 days in the senate? Did he pass any meaningful legislation during that time.

Except for the lottery part. Just a solid foundation of truth.

BTW, have you been able to locate any legitimate legislation Mr. Obama may have passed during that 142 day career? Maybe it's buried under one of those "Change We Can Believe In" signs.
