Comm. Pfeifer: ‘I work for you’

By: Letters to the ...

It has been a busy time since my last letter. We had an election. I finished first in my race, but did not get enough to win without a runoff election. The runoff will be Aug. 5.

I received 6,239 of your votes, which was 45.67 percent. I thank each and every one of you for the trust that you placed in me by casting your vote for me.

I have run for office before and helped many others to run. It is always a deeply humbling experience to me to realize that real people have expressed real trust by casting their votes.

Since there is a runoff election, you are still needed to come back out and cast your vote, based on your assessment of the candidates. I ask you, of course, to please give me your vote again.

As a commissioner, and a candidate, I am different than most. I try to honestly communicate with you. I try to let you know where I stand on issues so that you can decide if you support me or if you do not.

I don’t go along to get along. Because of that, I expect that I will be outspent and “out-endorsed” in a big way. That is no change from the past.

If I had supported the big pay raise and the defined benefit plan for county employees, or if I had gone along with the illegal executive sessions or with making the minutes more difficult to use or with holding a retreat in Callaway Gardens, they might not have gone out and found a candidate to run against me.

But, I did what I think was right and now, the only endorsement I really want is yours.

If those in power don’t much like me, I can live with that. My purpose isn’t to work for them; I work for you. I think of my service on the commission as my opportunity to be “in the world, but not of it.”

Thanks again for your votes. Please come out on Aug. 5, or early vote the week before.

If you want to help out, or contact me, my website is www.peterpfeifer.com. My telephone is 770-487-2654.

Peter Pfeifer

County Commission, Post 3

Peachtree City, Ga.

for the people and you are appreciated. You have stood up for what is right many, many times. Thank for pointing out the misdeeds of the other commissioners - like the retreat at Callaway. Nice little trip. There may be a law that no meeting can be held outside the county where any votes can be taken. The citizens get what they deserve though, because no one goes to the meetings to see them in action. Same with the School Board. While the citizens are fiddling, Rome is burning.

So Mr. Pfiefer stopped a meeting at Callaway - big deal. The group of Commissioners he sides with spent $1.4 million tax dollars and counting on lawsuits within the County.
The lawsuit against the Sheriff cost $226,000+ alone. For those who are interested see the article at:

You're one of the Commissioners that voted to sue our Sheriff and committed the County to the recent "Billboard" settlement.

I wouldn't brag about working for the people. You don't seem to have a good handle on the proper use of our tax dollars!

Dear Friend;

I don’t know why anyone would believe a thing you say. You can see an article on this same website on the first page, “More News Headlines”, “Two billboards set for Fayette as county settles lawsuit.”. In that article, it clearly states (correctly) that I was the ONLY vote AGAINST the billboards!

Also, you state that “So Mr. Pfeifer stopped a meeting at Callaway – big deal”. The correction is; the meeting at Callaway took place on your tax dollar. I was not able to stop it, just bring it to taxpayers attention (and pay for my own room).

But, I have no intention of getting into a word contest or debate with you at this time, just wanted to correct the record on a couple or easy to understand, and see, issues.

I enjoyed getting to know you when you worked in the ESD industry way back when. You are a man of character as far as I know. Thanks for looking out for Joe taxpayer!
