By: The Citizen
The congregation of Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church, Peachtree City, will say good-bye to its retiring senior pastor this Sunday at 10 a.m. in the auditorium of Starr’s Mill High School. The Festival Worship Service will be the last service the Rev. John Weber leads as pastor of the congregation he developed 34 years ago — a small group of people who first met in a warehouse in the industrial park area. The congregation that now numbers about 1,700 normally worships in five services per weekend. By relocating Sunday’s service to Starr’s Mill, the entire congregation can worship together. Friends of the congregation are also invited to join in. Many of the musical groups that lead worship will be participating in the service: Sanctuary Choir, the Christ Our Shepherd Brass and Flute Choirs, GraceFlock contemporary band, and Joyful Noise Ringers. A new anthem, “God Is There,” written for the occasion by church member James C. Hagberg, adapted from Romans 8:28, will be sung by Sanctuary Choir, conducted by the composer. Hagberg dedicated the anthem to Ginnie and John Weber. The Rev. Miriam Beecher, associate pastor, David Beecher, minister of music, and Pauline Pezzino, pastoral intern, also will lead worship. A golf cart shuttle will be available to assist worshippers from the parking lot to the auditorium. For further information, call 770-487-8717. login to post comments |
